Duties:

The Press and Media Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Public Affairs Officer (PAO) or PAO designee. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. Monitors UAE press and media coverage of issues of importance to the United States. Identifies and advises Consulate General leadership on strategies for promoting accurate, balanced UAE press and media coverage of U.S.

foreign policy and American interests; correcting misinformation; and countering disinformation; provides nuanced analysis of complex ties between government leadership and the local media sector.

Designs and recommends PD strategies to connect with the press and media to build and sustain productive dialogue and promote understanding of and support for U.S.

policy. Builds productive relationships with press and media professionals in person and online.

With its key location in the Middle East, the UAE is of the highest importance to U.S. economic and national security interests. The incumbent co-ordinates with the embassy press team in Abu Dhabi.


Qualifications and Evaluations:

Note:
All applicants must currently hold or be able to acquire a UAE residency visa to fill the position. For non-UAE nationals, the Mission assists in obtaining the required residency visa to lawfully work in the UAE.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in a media outlet, think tank, university, NGO, international organization, foreign embassy, government office or corporation is required, with responsibility for public relations, public affairs, journalism, communications, marketing, managing public relations, outreach events, press conferences, and other media interactions as significant parts of the job.

A university degree in Journalism, Communications, International Relations, Political Science, Economics or local equivalent is required.

The pay plan and benefits are assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
