Job Purpose


The Head of Compliance, Asset Management (AM) role is responsible for meeting all DFSA and other relevant regulatory requirements, together with ensuring an appropriate compliance culture within the firm and ensuring senior management are aware of all compliance obligations.


The recent focus on compliance as well as Anti Money Laundering and sanctions has required a renewed focus on these areas in the business.

Your role will include setting up additional, stringent processes, controls, a pre trade compliance monitoring system and more detailed compliance checks including a Risk Based Approach for all AM Direct clients to ensure the business complies with all the necessary obligations.


The primary compliance elements from a product perspective include ensuring all public funds, segregated accounts and investment products issued from, or managed by the DIFC entity are compliant with relevant rules and limits.


Additionally, the position is responsible for all policies of the ENBD AM business as well as execution of the Compliance Plan, Compliance Monitoring and assisting in establishing and strengthening the overall compliance framework of the unit.


In this role, you will

  • Ensure systems and controls are implemented to meet all regulatory obligations on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure compliance in both Jersey and Luxembourg funds through our outsourced compliance function to State Street. Maintain responsibility for oversight and monitoring through reviews of monthly and quarterly reports submitted by State Street and highlight any areas of noncompliance to State Street compliance and AM CEO on a quarterly basis and also review reports prior to submission at quarterly board meetings.
  • As and when projects arise, liaise with regulators, lawyers, governance forums (such as the Board) to ensure all relevant regulatory matters are considered and advice is sought from the appropriate parties.
  • Review all cases of AML / suspicious transactions and report to Group Compliance. Take actions to resolve and close the case. Responsible for annual AML, Sanctions, DFSA Rules, and related training for all staff. Completion of all the AML/KYC requirements from State Street and automation of World check on a periodic basis.
  • Provide monthly compliance reporting and assist and respond to changes in Group Compliance policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • Submission of all reports and notifications (as may be relevant) as per DFSA guidelines and periodicities, as per required standards and without errors on a periodic basis.
  • Responsible for all documentation, systems, files, minutes, etc to be prepared and completed prior to a risk review by DFSA or an INA /other audit.
  • Preparation and completion of all requirements, submissions, legal documentation, scheme documents for all the funds, notifications, marketing materials and investor communication as well as adherence to the relevant rules in each jurisdiction. Ensuring accurate and timely escalation to DFSA of any material regulatory matters.
  • Responsible for all AML/KYC matters for investors through captive channels and AM direct.
  • Create processes for business flow from each jurisdiction. Create appropriate documentation and get it approved from respective levels as appropriate.
  • Create processes and documentation for each specific distribution channel including all jurisdictions / regions.
  • Complete DDQs on all IFAs and third parties as per agreed process
  • Modify and approve each specific document for each distributor being signed on. Review of every thirdparty relationship (DDQ) annually.
  • Maintenance and regular updating of all manuals / processes as per Emirates NBD AM internal requirements as well as Emirates NBD Group requirements and regulatory requirements. Ensuring version control and appropriate dissemination of the same to all employees.

To be successful in the role, you will need the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Ability to manage robust communications with external stakeholders, regulatory bodies and government entities as well as managing internal stakeholder expectations.
  • Minimum of 5 Years Compliance experience with an International Financial Services Company, ideally handling multiple jurisdictions from a regulatory perspective.
  • Knowledge of DFSA Rules and laws
  • Knowledge of general legal issues and laws
  • University Degree (Finance or Law preferred)
  • Relevant professional qualifications, such as Compliance Diploma.
