Job Summary:

A Traffic Marshal, also known as a Traffic Controller or Traffic Management Operative, is responsible for managing traffic flow and ensuring safety at construction sites, events, or other locations where traffic control is necessary.

This role involves directing vehicles, pedestrians, and equipment to maintain order and prevent accidents.

Key Responsibilities:

Traffic Control:

Direct vehicles entering and exiting construction sites, event venues, or designated areas.
Control traffic flow using hand signals, traffic cones, barriers, and signage.

Pedestrian Management:

Assist pedestrians in crossing roads or accessing designated areas safely.
Provide directions and guidance to pedestrians to ensure smooth movement.

Vehicle Coordination:

Coordinate the movement of vehicles, including trucks, delivery vehicles, and construction equipment.
Ensure safe maneuvering and parking of vehicles within designated areas.

Safety Monitoring:

Monitor traffic conditions and identify potential hazards or safety risks.
Take proactive measures to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all individuals on site.

Emergency Response:

Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents, such as accidents or vehicle breakdowns.
Implement traffic management plans to redirect traffic and ensure emergency access routes are clear.

Communication:

Communicate effectively with drivers, pedestrians, and other site personnel.
Provide clear instructions and warnings regarding traffic rules and safety procedures.

Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate records of traffic movements, incidents, and activities.
Complete incident reports and documentation as required by company policies or regulations.

Equipment Maintenance:

Ensure traffic control equipment, such as traffic cones, signs, and barriers, is in good working condition.
Perform routine checks and maintenance on equipment to ensure functionality and safety.

Compliance:

Adhere to traffic regulations, safety standards, and company policies at all times.
Follow instructions from supervisors and comply with sitespecific traffic management plans.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience as a Traffic Marshal or in a similar traffic control role is preferred.
Traffic Management certification or training may be required depending on local regulations.
Knowledge of traffic laws, road safety regulations, and traffic control procedures.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and in fastpaced environments.
Physical fitness for standing and directing traffic for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

Traffic Marshals work outdoors in various weather conditions.
The role may involve standing for long periods and directing traffic in hightraffic areas.
Work hours may include shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on site requirements.
