Minimum qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with policy dealing in public sector entities, policy issues impacting the technical industry within inhouse corporate policy function/trade association, law firm, consultancy, government, or a think tank.

Preferred qualifications:


  • Experience with regulatory frameworks relating to Cloud, wider policy landscape and relevant stakeholders.
  • Experience with regulatory frameworks existing in industry verticals such as public sector, education, financial services, and healthcare in EEM.
  • Experience working with technical regulators, financial services regulators, legislators, standards bodies, policymakers, and regulated industries.
  • Experience with regulatory issues impacting cloud computing such as privacy, data governance, cloud certifications and security.
  • Knowledge of policy landscape and political dynamics in European Emerging Markets (EEM).
  • Ability to speak and write in Arabic fluently.

About the job:


As a member of Google's Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions.

You'll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives.

In this role, you'll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction.

  • As a Government Affairs and Public Policy Manager, Google Cloud, you will work closely with colleagues from Google Cloud European Emerging Markets (EEM) to help drive our strategy in the market. You will serve as the internal and external point of contact for the executive representative of Cloud in EEM on Cloud policy matters. You will address all regulatory developments relevant to Cloud business. This includes external outreach to policy makers on proposed legislation and working with trade associations and third parties. You will share insights in Cloud products and policies, work in industry verticals and geo expansion strategy. You will work with external stakeholders such as regulators and legislators to inform the future of cloud regulatory policy. You will partner closely with Cloud leaders to help ensure our products and services address the expectations of regulatory authorities.

The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company's engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy.

Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others' views and opinions, and distill and share the company's perspective on those issues with external stakeholders.

While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.


Responsibilities:


  • Represent Google Cloud with executive Policy officials and regulators on regulatory and legislative priorities.
  • Advise on key privacy, data governance, security, trust, and content related issues as well as on regulatory matters in Kuwait.
  • Engage with officials, trade associations, industry partners, nonprofit groups and Google Cloud customers to support the formation of cloud policy on data governance, privacy, public procurement, security and Cloud certifications. Address specific policy, political, regulatory, and compliance challenges and opportunities.
  • Support sales enablement, and partner with Cloud Sales team especially for the public sector vertical and a number of other verticals such as financial services, telecommunication and health.
  • Establish a trusted network of key stakeholders in EEM Kuwait. Engage with internal stakeholders and leadership to help ensure that our products and services address the expectations of regulatory authorities.
