Join our team at Deriv as a Legal Researcher, where you'll be pivotal in helping to navigate complex legal landscapes.

You'll conduct extensive legal research, draft and review critical documents, and offer insights on legal disputes and issues. Collaborating closely with legal experts, you'll ensure compliance whilst assisting with the management of legal risks. Your role demands sharp analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly. This position in our dynamic fintech environment offers a challenging and impactful journey.


Your challenges

  • Perform thorough legal research in key areas such as corporate, labour, tax, and industryspecific laws to underpin Deriv's business strategies.
  • Analyse and interpret laws, regulations, and legal publications, delivering crucial insights to support informed decisionmaking.
  • Compile research findings into detailed memos and summaries, guiding the legal team and management on legal issues, risks, and current developments.
  • Actively engage with departments including Human Resources, Finance, Marketing, and Operations, understanding and addressing their specific legal needs.
  • Offer bespoke legal insights and solutions, enhancing collaboration and effectiveness across the company.
  • Continuously update knowledge on evolving laws and regulations, ensuring the advice remains current, relevant, and accurate.

What you have

  • 13 years of experience in a similar role and/or private practice
  • A law degree from an accredited university
  • Familiarity with the legal and regulatory landscape in the fintech sector
  • Prior experience in general commercial and corporate legal practices
  • Proficiency in communicating complex legal concepts effectively
  • Strategic thinking capabilities with problemsolving skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritise and multitask
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
