Ammar Zhour

Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in materials science, nanotechnology-based coatings, and corrosion protection for marine and industrial structures. Five years of undergraduate teaching experience in Materials Science and Metallurgy, with hands-on laboratory supervision and student project mentoring. Experienced in materials characterization (SEM, EDX, XRD), corrosion testing, and experimental design; motivated to contribute to UAE higher education through research-led teaching and applied collaborations.

My teaching philosophy is based on the belief that engineering education must connect theory with practice. I aim to help students not only acquire scientific knowledge, but also learn how to apply it to real-world design and manufacturing problems. I see the classroom as a collaborative environment, where students develop analytical thinking, creativity, and ethical responsibility through discussion and experimentation.
As an educator, I view myself as both a mentor and a facilitator — guiding students to discover solutions rather than simply providing them. I integrate laboratory experiments, simulation tools, and case studies to make complex materials science concepts tangible and engaging.
