I received BSc. and Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Sheffield, in 1996 and 2000, respectively. I am an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the School of Engineering and Technology. I became a mathematics and physics faculty member at the Higher Colleges of Technology in the UAE in August 2011. I have served as Division Chair of Engineering, as Program Team Leader of Math and Natural Science, and as Course Development Team Leader of Engineering Statistics for the Bachelor of Engineering course and enjoy teaching various levels of Mathematics in the Engineering department. My research interests are in areas of Fluid Mechanics, Number Theory, Cryptography and Convergence Technology such as Cloud Computing Security, Virtualization Security, Wireless Networks, Mobile Security and IoT Security. Data modelling, statistical approaches, and computer programming are also among my favourite interests. I have two international patents in the field of ID-based Cryptosystems and published a number of conference and journal papers.

After completing my PhD in Mathematics, I joined Churchill College and started building up an excellent reputation from the beginning as a mathematics lecturer for over eight years. Consequently, I served as a Head of Mathematics and later became the Vice Principal of Churchill College in the UK. 

Since I joined HCT in RAK, I taught Pre-Calculus (MTH 1103), Calculus (EGEN N201), Calculus 1 (MTH 1203), Calculus 2 (MTH 2103), Calculus 3 (MTH 3013), Statistical Mathematics (LSM 1113), Health, Safety & Environment (EGEN N302), Fluid Mechanics (EMCH N205) and Engineering Mathematics 4 (EGEN N301) for Bachelor Engineering students. I was the course leader for all the above subjects. I transferred to Abu Dhabi Men’s College in August 2014 and I serve as CDT leader for MTH 1113 Engineering Statistics course for AY1415. The Course Development Team (CDT) is responsible for the review of course materials, resources, and teaching methodologies; the development and communication of best practices and industrial interactions and subsequently to make recommendations to the Faculty Academic Committee of any changes that may be required. The team consists of subject matter experts from across the HCT system who have previous experience in the development and delivery of the respective course. The team is also responsible for the collation of best practice course materials that will reside on a Blackboard Learn Course, available to all staff teaching the course. The team may decide to consolidate the material into a standard Blackboard Learn Course, however, the course shall not be too prescriptive in its delivery and should allow the freedom to encourage teaching innovation that will drive future improvements.

Recently, I served as a Program Team leader of the Mathematics and Natural Science department at Abu Dhabi campuses (2022-2023). I have served in this line manager position for one year and back to my original position as faculty of Mathematics due to management restructure from August 2023. Then I served as a division chair of Engineering at Abu Dhabi Women’s campus from February to July 2024. I have worked closely with my team and learned leadership and collaboration with many colleagues while I was serving as PTL and DC.  

I am currently employed at the Engineering Mathematics Faculty of Higher Colleges of Technology. I have a degree and PhD in Mathematics from the University of Sheffield.  At the University of Sheffield, I was a teaching assistant for undergraduate students for various subjects in Mathematics while pursuing my Ph.D. simultaneously.
