JYOT BHAAD

I am Jyot Kaur Bhaad, and I have recently completed my final year exams at Middlesex University Dubai, where I pursued a degree in law. My passion for law has been a driving force since a young age, and my experiences during the first year of law school confirmed that this is the right path for me.

Starting in September 2024, I will be pursuing a master's degree at the University of Law, Birmingham. Additionally, I plan to take the SQE examinations next year. In the interim, I am eager to gain practical experience and grow professionally, which is why I am keen on securing a summer internship opportunity with your esteemed law firm.

I am available for the internship from mid-June to mid-August.

In August 2021, I interned at EFS Global Ltd. in the HR department, working on the recruiting and staffing project for EXPO 2020 Dubai. My role involved close communication with the on-ground staff, addressing their grievances, and finding solutions. I also conducted telephone interviews for job vacancies. This experience significantly improved my communication, problem-solving, leadership, and teamwork skills.

In May 2022, I interned at Suits Legal, Dubai, under Ms. Jayapriya Ayaniyat. I learned the basics of legal drafting, primarily dealing with rental and property disputes. By the end of my internship, I could draft various legal documents, including Memorandums of Understanding, Powers of Attorney, Legal Notices, Eviction Notices, and Authorization Letters.

In October 2022, I was selected to represent Middlesex University, Dubai, in the 30th Willem C. Vis Moot Competition, one of the world's most prestigious mooting competitions. Our team of five spent six months researching applicable law, studying case facts, and preparing a 35-page memorandum for both the Claimant and Respondent. I was chosen as the Oralist for Claimant on substantive issues. Additionally, we participated in pre-moots such as the 9th Lazareff Le Bars Pre-Moot and the 13th Annual Middle East Vis Pre-Moot, which prepared us for the final competition in Vienna, Austria, from March 30 to April 6, 2023. This competition provided a valuable platform to connect with top arbitrators, law firms, and professors.

I recently completed my LLB degree at Middlesex University Dubai. Throughout my studies, I developed a strong foundation in various areas of law, including contract law, company law, criminal law, land law, and family law. My coursework included rigorous legal research, drafting, and analysis, which honed my critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, I actively participated in moot court competitions and internships, which provided practical experience and further enhanced my communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities. My LLB degree has equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a successful career in law and to excel in my upcoming master's program.
