Experience

Responsibilities as an Estimation Engineer (MEP):

 

  1. Responsible for preparation of pre & post contract documents & negotiation with suppliers & subcontractors
  2. Verifying tender documents & ensure that complete documents are received in proper order, required for project tender & analyzing project specification, tender drawings for MEP services, preparing check list, tender clarifications for discrepancy if any on received tender & forwarding to consultant / client for confirmation.
  3. Examining scope, time & cost impact ensure technical feasibility of project designs & engineering activities, identifying risks associated with the completion of each package, preparing mitigation measures are in place
  4. Quantities takes off from the MEP tender drawings of Electrical, ELV, HVAC, Firefighting, Plumbing & Drainage works
  5. Submitting enquiries to suppliers & subcontractors to obtain necessary quotations, information for tender works.
  6. Obtaining necessary quotations, information from concerned engineers of internal divisions of company or from special integrators (like ELV system, security system, fire alarm system & fire suppression system) for tender works.
  7. Preparing comparison of subcontractors / suppliers / specialists received quotations amount submitting to MEP Manager (Estimation Department) for review & further action.
  8. Preparing accurate estimation & costing with complete MEP Summary including Project Management Cost, Overheads & Margin as per specific requirement of project tender
  9. Designing, estimating & costing for temporary power arrangements for site offices, stores, workers accommodation & canteen etc., providing temporary power supply to all subcontractors for construction use & temporary power supply arrangement for heavy equipment & power tools.
  10. Discuss with Head of the Department (Manager – MEP Division) in details with complete working sheets & supplier quotations.
  11. Preparation of offer letter & BOQ to clients/main contractor for project tenders.

Coordination and Follow Ups:

  1. Coordination with all other Engineers/Draftsmen for relevant document preparation, necessary information to complete tender.
  2. Coordination, further negotiations & follow up concerned supplies/subcontractors etc. as and when required.
  3. Attending negotiations meetings with clients/consultants and proposing value engineering to meet project budget & try to get award of project.

 

2. Responsibilities as a Procurement Engineer (MEP):

 

  1. Taking quantities from MEP shop drawings and sending an enquiry to suppliers / subcontractors / specialists to obtain necessary quotations, information for the project works.
  2. Preparing comparison & compliance of received quotations from subcontractors / suppliers / specialists and submitting to Procurement Department consulting with Project Manager / Commercial Manager / Contracts Manager for review and further action.
  3. After finalizing of subcontractors / suppliers / specialists arranging a kick-off meeting and request to provide prequalification & material submittals with samples.
  4. Preparing Material Request (MR) and forwarding MR to Contracts Manager / Procurement Manager to prepare Letter of Intent (LOI) / Sub-contract Agreement 
  5. Reviewing all MEP material submittals with samples and compliance statement received from sub-contractors / suppliers / specialists and comparing with project specification and forwarding to the consultant for approval. 
  6. Preparing materials procurement schedule, follow up with subcontractors / suppliers / specialists and update the same.
  7. Accountable for the sourcing of materials / services, certification of payments, costing and subsequent settlement of variations including new rates, value engineering, review & finalization of claims, close out of contract (TOC, DLC, etc.) and contractual correspondences, etc.

 

3. Responsibilities as a Project Engineer (MEP): 

 

  • Mobilization: 
  1. After awarding the contract, during mobilization arranging temporary utility services (power, water & drainage) for site office, workers rest area, canteen, stores, subcontractor offices and temporary power supply by generators, switchgears (MDBs, SMDBs, FDBs & Temporary socket outlet panels) isolators & cables etc. for all subcontractors use for installation and power arrangement for project heavy equipment or power tools etc, also all required all materials procurement and maintenance of temporary utility services until to completion of project.

 

  • Design or Engineering Phase:

 

  1. Working in coordination with all internal civil departments, subcontractors, specialists, suppliers and consultants/clients.
  2. Examining scope, time & cost impact ensure technical feasibility of project designs and engineering activities, identifying Risks associated with the completion of each package, preparing mitigation measures are in place.
  3. Verifying issued for construction (IFC) documents with tender documents and ensure that complete documents, addendums, new revisions etc. required for project are received in proper order. If found any varied quantities to be notified to commercial or contract or project manager.
  4. Analysing project specification, design/shop drawings for MEP service.
  5. Meeting and communicating with consultant for clarification and discrepancy if any on the required project documents and preparing RFI.
  6. Designing/Reviewing MEP works shop drawings, following with IFC drawings and forwarding to the consultant for approval.
  7. Designing/Reviewing External and Internal Electrical Lighting Layouts with Lighting Control System, Power Layouts, Earthing & Lightning Protection Layouts and installation, testing & commissioning of Internal Light Fittings, External Light Fittings, Landscape Light Fittings, Façade Light Fittings with lighting control system including wiring devices, small power socket outlets & isolators for power equipments for the requirement of project.
  8. Designing and Preparing power load schedules of LV Panels/MDBs, SMDBs, Final DBs and MCCs with related power distribution system required for the project.
  9. Designing, installation, testing & commissioning of Generators for essential power with ATS and EMDBs, ESMDBs, EDBs and related essential power distribution system etc. 
  10. Designing/Reviewing RMU/Transformer Substations & LV Rooms shop drawings with details of MV/LV cables in trenches, routing of power cables in cable trays, routing of busbars and risers etc.
  11. Designing/Reviewing Electrical schematic shop drawings with details of MV/LV cable sizes and power feeding from RMUs to Transformers, from Transformers to LV Panels, from LV Panels to SMDBs/MCCs/Isolators/Capacitor Bank, from SMDBs to Final DBs, from MCCs to Related Motors and from Isolators to related power equipment etc.
  12. Reviewing designed ELV system shop drawings submitted by ELV specialist integrator and supervising installation, testing & commissioning of CCTV system, Access Control System, Structured Cable System and Telephone System, Public Address System, Audio/Video Intercom System, SMATV System, Disable Alarm System, Background Music System, Fire Alarm System, Voice Evacuation System, Central Battery System / Emergency Lighting etc. 
  13. Reviewing, designed HVAC shop drawings with schematics from internal HVAC department technical team and supervising installation, testing & commissioning of HVAC system with HVAC equipment mechanical rooms etc.
  14. Designing/Reviewing Plumbing & Drainage shop drawings with schematic risers and supervising installation testing & commissioning of Plumbing & Drainage System with all plumbing & drainage equipments, ancillaries, sewage sump pump stations, domestic water pump rooms and installation of sanitary wares with complete accessories etc.
  15. Reviewing designed Fire Fighting system shop drawings submitted by Approved Fire Fighting Specialist and supervising installation, testing & commissioning of Hose Reel System, Sprinkler System with Fire Pump Room, and Fire Suppression System etc.
  16. Reviewing designed other systems shop drawings submitted by as mentioned specialists/subcontractors and supervising installation, testing & commissioning of LPG installation installed by LPG specialist, Vertical Transport (Lifts) installed by Lift specialist, Swimming Pool & pool equipment installed by Swimming specialist, Water treatment system installed by specialist, Garbage chute system installed by specialist, Gate barrier system installed by specialist etc.      
  17. Preparing authorities matrix and follow up of all related MEP activities required for approvals from authorities (DEWA/ADDC/AADC/SEWA - Electrical HV & LV System, Etisalat/DU – Telephone/GSM System & Structured Cabling, SIRA/DPS/MOS – CCTV Security System & Access Control System, Civil Defence – Fire Fighting, LPG, Fire Alarm, Voice Evacuation System (24x7) & Central Battery System/Emergency Lighting System, DEWA/ADWEA/SEWA – Water Supply Services & DM/DSO/ADM – Drainage & Sewage System etc.)        

 

  • Procurement Phase:

 

  1. Taking quantities from MEP shop drawings and sending an enquiry to suppliers / subcontractors / specialists to obtain necessary quotations, information for the project works.

  • Construction Phase:

 

  1. Preparing approval status schedule for shop drawings, material submittals, samples and preparing materials procurement schedule, follow up with subcontractors / suppliers / specialists and update the same.
  2. Preparing Material Inspection Request (MIR) documents and checking at site to ensure the received materials as per approved material submittals and samples as per attached complied specification data sheet, catalogues, approved sample details, country of origin, bill of lading, delivery notes etc. after checking same one forwarding to the Consultant for approval.
  3. Preparing and submitting to consultant for approval of work start notification to start the new activities as per approved shop drawings as well as installation of delivered equipment as per approved shop drawings, material submittal and MIR.
  4. Preparing and submitting to consultant for approval of Mock up inspection request after installation of specified list of items or equipment required mock up.       
  5. Planning and developing work schedule, organize and assign the work to the site engineers/supervisors/ foremen and team of technicians to carry out works conforming to the specified quality standards as per approved shop drawings and using approved materials.
  6. After assigning the work, site visits to check the manpower and whether deputed workers as per assignment to carried out the works and supervising on-site construction activities in order to ensure that operations are carried out on time in the safest and most efficient manner and operating procedures & standards are correctly followed, taking corrective action. After finishing the assigned work, Preparing Inspection Request (IR) with required supporting documents check list, marked drawings, approved schedules and any test results etc. and inspecting at site with check list to ensure that work carried out according to approved shop drawings and used materials are complying with approved material submittal, then forwarding the IR to consultant for approval.
  7. After approval of electrical shop drawings with schematics and load schedule from consultant, submitting for authority (DEWA/ADDC/AADC/SEWA) approval. 
  8. Following & inspecting civil construction activities of RMU Rooms, Transformer Rooms, LV Rooms complete with all cable trenches and MEP works for RMU Rooms & Substations, raising inspection for authority (DEWA/ADDC/AADC/SEWA) approval.
  9. Follow up with authorities (DEWA/ADDC/AADC/SEWA) for the delivery of RMUs, Transformers and related HV/LV cables for substations.
  10. Installation, testing, commissioning & Energization of RMU/Transformer substations including installation & termination of HV/LV cables for substations. Laying of external Main incomer HV cables to RMU/Transformer substations observing all required authority formalities.
  11. Installation, testing & commissioning of all HVAC, Pluming & Drainage, Fire Fighting, LPG and Other Specialist Equipments etc. 
  12. Follow up with other Authorities like Empower/Tabreed/Municipalities/Drainage/Water Supply/Telecom/Civil Defence/Security etc. for the inspections and approvals.   
  13. Preparing work progress report weekly as well as monthly and discussing with management in progress meeting.
  14. Attending MEP technical meeting with sub-contractors/suppliers/specialists, consultant and client to discuss the site progress and if any technical issues and preparing minutes of meeting.
  15. Testing & Commissioning of all systems with specialist integrators including fault analysing and trouble shootings of the systems.
  16. Preparing testing and commissioning reports, reviewing as built drawings and close out documents and same will be forwarding to consultant. 
  17. Assigning technician team to attend snag list works. 

 

System Handled:

 

  • Responsible for the Installation, Testing & Commissioning of Electrical HV 33KV/22KV/11KV & LV 400V/230V installations which includes:

RMU/Transformer Substations, LT switch gears (like MDBs, SMDBs, DBs & capacitor banks etc.), busbar system, power distribution cables, conduits, cable trays & trunking, wiring for internal & external lighting points, small power points, isolator points with isolators & wiring devices, Internal & external lighting fixtures & lighting controls, façade & landscape lighting fixtures and lighting controls, earthing and lightning protection, generator sets & ATS etc. 

 

  • Responsible for supervising low current system which are installed by specialist systems integrator:

Structured cabling system, SMATV system, public address system, CCTV system & access control system, gate barrier system, audiovisual system, emergency lighting system / central battery system, UPS system & audio & video intercom system, fire alarm & voice evacuation system etc. 

 

  • Managing & supervising firefighting installation installed by firefighting specialist:

Fire extinguishers & fire extinguisher cabinets, hose reels with cabinets & valves with related GI pipe works, sprinklers & valves with related GI pipe works, firefighting pump set (Electric + Diesel + Jockey) & valves with corresponding GI pipe works in pump room, fire suppression system (FM – 200), external fire hydrants with external pipe works.

 

  • Managing & supervising plumbing & drainage installations:

External drainage & sewage installation, Internal drainage soil, waste, vent & rain water works, external water supply works, Internal cold & hot water works, PEX system & valves, Water pump sets [transfer pump sets, booster pump sets, sewage sump pump sets & irrigation pump sets etc.], GRP water tanks, calorifiers, domestic water heaters, solar water heaters, drainage ancillaries like roof drains, floor drains, floor traps, floor cleanouts, vent cowls, manhole covers, grease traps / automatic grease interceptors, gully traps & gully trap covers, grating covers, channel gratings, sanitary wares, mixers & toilet accessories.

 

  • Managing & supervising HVAC installation:

Chillers / heat exchangers, chilled water pumps, chilled water pipe works, valves & controls, BTU meters, smart valves, air handling units, fresh air handling units, FCUs, package units, split units, window type AC units, valve package, controls & control wiring, AC ducts, ventilation duct, duct insulation, dampers, volume control dampers, sound attenuators, plenum boxes, flexible ducts, air outlets, exhaust fans & condensate drainage, flushing system, chilled water balancing & air balancing.
