I am DHA registered laboratory technologist (DHA Unique ID 60392656) seeking for a challenging position in the science field where my knowledge, research skills, and creative abilities can be effectively utilized. I am well-versed in management, systems strengthening, veterinary and Clinical Research, Biosafety and Biosecurity, Scientific proposal & report writing and bioinformatics.

I have over 4 years of experience working in a veterinary Laboratory field. I have worked as team leader technologist at Central Diagnostic Laboratory, a leading Veterinary lab at College of Veterinary - Makerere University - Uganda, being at the peak of Supervision, Molecular biology techniques, Scientific research, chemotherapeutics and toxicology, Health and safety, Stock management, Staff Rota management, Report making, Microbiology, Hematology and Clinical chemistry.

Duties and responsibilities; 

• Carrying out Phlebotomy 
• Performing technical duties according to the policy of the lab and instructions from the head of department.
• Taking part in routine specimen analysis in assigned lab sections.
• Taking part in the internal and external quality control programs according to the requirement of accreditation bodies. 
• Performing a variety of technical duties in laboratory to include performance of routine tests and examinations, assistance in the setup of experiments and the collection & recording of data.
• Maintaining and making minor adjustments to equipment, e.g. calibrating and alignment.
• Complying with bio-hazard safety standards through proper handling of potentially hazardous sources at the work place.
• Monitoring inventory levels, ordering materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures and, counting orders upon receipt.
• Following policies and procedure for infection control and facility safety in accordance to hospital guidelines.
• Assisting in the evaluation of new analytical methods.

Duties and responsibilities; 

• Collection and analyst of various kinds of samples from animals for different viruses, bacteria and other organisms.
• Evaluate new supplies equipment to make sure operability in specific laboratory settings.
• Develop guidelines for procedures like the management of bacteria and viruses.
• Coordinate molecular or cellular research activities with scientists specializing in other fields.
• Confer with vendors to evaluate new equipment or reagents or to discuss the customization of product lines to meet user requirements.
• Assist technical personnel and postdoctoral research fellows.
• Prepare reports, manuscripts, and meeting presentations.
• Perform molecular biology laboratory procedures following protocols including deoxyribonucleic acid extraction, cloning extraction, ribonucleic acid RNA purification, or gel electrophoresis.
• Monitor or operate specialized equipment like real-time and conventional PCR, electrophoresis units, and ELISA.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records data.
• Instruct undergraduate graduate students within the areas of molecular biology.
• Evaluate new technologies to enhance or complement current research.
• Direct, coordinate, organize, or prioritize biological laboratory activities.
• Compile and analyze molecular biology experimental data and adjusting experimental designs as necessary.

• Adhere to Laboratory Quality Management Systems (LQMS) in compliance with OIE standards which work in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 for Quality and ISO 15189 for safety
