Rachel Laing

Registered Mental Health Nurse with 10 years of NHS experience, 9 years are post registration at band 5 & 6 level - staff nurse and charge nurse.

Extensive experience of working with both child/adolescents and adults in inpatient mental health settings in the UK. 

Other nursing experience includes dementia and care of the elderly, general adult psychiatry, psychiatric rehabilitation and drug and alcohol detox.

Having just relocated to UAE - I am now immediately available for nursing opportunities at staff nurse or charge nurse level.

first staff nurse experience was in a child and adolescent (CAMHS) inpatient unit for 12-28 year olds. I worked here for 6 years consolidating my practice and developing skills as a staff nurse. 

My most recent post has been a band 6 charge nurse in an adults intensive care of psychiatry unit. I assisted a senior charge nurse in managing of a team of 37 nursing staff. I have taken monthly allocation of coordinating charge nurse shifts, being the on call charge nurse managing staffing, patients and resources for a service with up to 140 patients. 

I have completed additional training in basic life support, immediate life support, managing medical emergencies in acute psychiatric inpatients course as well as being a tutor for delivering safe management of aggression (formerly known as control and restraint).

I have a bachelors of science degree in Nursing, graduating from Edinburgh Napier University in 2016.
