With a Japanese restaurant opening in a city filled with African and Continental cuisine, it was always going to be difficult to penetrate the market given the rare nature of this kind of cuisine.

4 years ago, I began managing this brand from Day 1 of its launch, and with a strategy of inclusiveness rather than focus on cuisine, it has grown to be one of the top 5 restaurants in Kampala.

Inclusiveness, showcasing clients enjoying their experience rather than focusing on the taste/look of the food as this would further “alienate" the Japanese cuisine. With Instagram being the largest followed platform at 6400 followers, Izumi now receives very spiked reservations/orders count from social media. With both revenue streams, being on-ground and online orders, online orders soared and still shine at $2000 per week. A steady increment of 22.9% each year )
