About Sherif Mansour:
I am a consultant paediatric surgeon practising in both Egypt and the United Kingdom, with a dedicated focus on minimally invasive and neonatal surgery. Currently completing the Paediatric Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship in Edinburgh, I combine advanced laparoscopic expertise with a calm, team‑centred approach to complex clinical care. I am passionate about surgical innovation, high‑quality teaching, and building systems that improve safety and outcomes for children. Colleagues describe me as precise, collaborative, and deeply committed to continuous improvement in every environment I work in.
Experience
I am a consultant paediatric surgeon with extensive international experience across leading centres in the UK and Egypt. My current role is a Paediatric Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellow at the Royal Hospital for Children & Young People in Edinburgh, which involves performing advanced laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures—including pyeloplasty, oesophageal atresia repair, thoracoscopic lobectomy, and complex neonatal and gastrointestinal operations. My fellowship also includes developing structured laparoscopic simulation programmes and contributing to national and international MIS training.
Alongside this, you serve as a Lecturer and Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at Ain Shams University Hospitals, where you deliver the full spectrum of paediatric and neonatal surgery, supervise postgraduate research, and lead departmental teaching and rota organisation.
My previous UK experience spans several top-tier centres—Great Ormond Street Hospital, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, University Sussex Hospitals, and Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital—covering paediatric urology, neonatal surgery, paediatric emergencies, trauma, and multidisciplinary care. I have consistently contributed to governance, audit, simulation training, and structured teaching across all posts.
My career reflects a strong commitment to surgical excellence, innovation, education, and leadership, supported by a track record of high‑impact presentations, publications, and quality‑improvement work.
Education
My educational background reflects consistent excellence and top‑tier surgical training. I have achieved the European Board of Paediatric Surgery Gold Medal (2024) as the highest‑ranked candidate, followed by the FRCS (Paediatric Surgery) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in the same year. I hold a PhD in Paediatric Surgery jointly from Ain Shams University and Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, building on an MSc in General Surgery (Honours) and an MBBS with Excellent with Honours from Ain Shams University. This strong academic foundation is complemented by early success, including a 99% General Secondary Certificate, and supported by international qualifications such as IELTS 7.5.
These achievements demonstrate a long‑standing pattern of academic distinction, rigorous surgical training, and commitment to continuous professional development.
