    Position Description

    Job Title: Design Manager United ArabEmirates
    Reporting Into: DesignDirector
    Direct Reports: DesignersVisualizers Project Architects and CAD Draughtsman
    Location: Dubai

    JobObjective:

    Coordinate all design mattersrelating to our projects in the Middle East and Asia. Ensure thatthe design process from defining the brief with the client toconcept creation through developed and technical design phases andthe delivery of all temporary structures and interior fitout forprojects is achieved efficiently and professionally within aclients budget.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinate and oversee the design process frombrief to onsite execution.
    • Ensure that theDesign Director is aware of all stages of the project and workclosely with them and the CCO to ensure that the concepts are onbrief and approved.
    • To be the main point ofcontact on design for the assigned project for the client internalteams and subcontractors during all stages of design andbuild.
    • Ensure effective communication of alldesignrelated discussions/decisions with project stakeholders(Client Design Director Contractors Structural Engineer LocalAuthorities and Project Management team).
    • Input and design direction into creative concepts duringthe brieftaking phase.
    • Preparation of moodboards and zoning plans to ensure a thorough brief to other membersof the design team.
    • Oversee the workflowthrough the design department coordinating with and checking theoutput of the Senior Designer Visualizer Project Architect andTechnical Draftsmen.
    • Liaising with the DesignDirector on the allocation of resources required to meet therequirements of the project.
    • Presentation ofdesign concepts to the client.
    • Prepare RFIs toensure the timely flow of information to and from all parties tofacilitate the creative process and schedule.
    • Input to and monitor the schedule to ensure successfuland timely delivery of all design stages.
    • Arrange and attend workshop meetings with all projectparties to facilitate design coordination.
    • Assist with the resolution of design clashes andconflicts to expedite the design and delivery process. Ensuring allcorrect parties are informed.
    • Review designpackages before submittals to ensure all information iscorrect.
    • Oversee material submittals andpresent them to the client where needed.
    • Provide design expertise to the estimation andprocurement team during the tendering and pricingprocess.
    • Review and respond to Contractorssubmittals ensuring alignment with the overall design intent andarchitecture.
    • Recommend value engineering anddesign modifications where suitable to reduce project costs andhelp the team meet commercial objectives. Support the commercialteam to ensure smooth workflow fulfillment of contractualobligations and successful delivery of commercial objectives.Oversee communication with the relevant authorities.

    • Site visits tosupport the delivery team and ensure the build is being implementedin alignment with the approved design.
    • Overseeany freelance project design staff or subcontracted designconsultants.
    • Assist project management staffwith document control and drawingrelated queries.
    • Manage any onsite team of CAD draughtsmen (only onlargerscale projects).
    • Maintenance of designlog to maintain proper document control and job costing.
    • Ensuring all relevant design documents are filed andlogged on the inhouse system.
    • Ensure that allDesign Standard Operating Procedures have been adheredto.

    Personal

    • Passionate about design and creatively ledindividual.
    • Organised thorough multitaskerwith a strong eye for detail.
    • Excellentcommunicator with good people skills.
    • Strongnegotiator.
    • Able to problem solve and respondto a constantly changing situation.
    • Flexibleand fluid attitude thriving in a dynamic work environment with awillingness and availability to work outside office hours whenneeded.

    Technical

    AutoCAD Excel and SketchUp are a bonus.

    Education and Experience:

    • Adegree majoring in Architecture is a must.
    • 15years experience in architecture or interior design management forcommercial/hospitality/event projects.
    • Arabicspeaker a bonus.
