    Qualifications

    MoldmakerTechnician Requisition

    IowaCity Oral Care Site

    Journeyman Moldmakertechnicians are being hired as skilled members of our manufacturingoperations teams. These technicians will be responsible for thespecialized manufacturing of molds and related components used inplastic injection molding. Specific duties and responsibilitiesinclude the following:

    • Manufactures, alters, repairs, andmaintains molds and dies for blister forming and sealingmachinery
    • Works to very close tolerances (+/-0.002)
    • Operates various standard machine toolsand moldmaking machinery (i.e. mills, lathes, etc.) in theproduction of molds.
    • Performing weldingoperations
    • Must be capable of making new toolsfrom raw materials
    • Must be capable ofdetermining sequence of machine operations,etc.
    • Assembles and disassembles molds forproduction, repair and maintenancepurposes.
    • Performs set-ups and adjustments onall moldmaking machinery
    • Performs various typesof bench work including stoning, polishing, andassembly
    • Matchingcavities
    • Investigates molding problems andoffers suggestions on how to improve molddesigns
    • Works with little supervision andindependently
    • Responsible for good housekeepingin the work area and follows all safety policies, procedures, andrules

    Requirements toApply:

    • Minimum of a highschool diploma/GED
    • Must be journeyman moldmakeror have extensive work experience in the construction of newinjection mold tooling with the skill to do original work andactual mold construction or repair without directsupervision
    • Must be skilled at operationvarious types of moldmaking equipment and machinery, includingmilling machines, lathes, grinders, EDM machines, CNC machines,etc.
    • Must be skilled at reading blueprints,charts, and tables
    • Must have thorough knowledgeof principles of operation of moldmaking tools, machining methods,and typical mold tooling material
    • Must haveskills necessary to perform bench work including matching,polishing, stoning, and assembly
    • Must be ableto identify and distinguish between all colors in thespectrum
    • Must be able to understand and complywith the standard operating procedures for allfunctions
    • Must be able to read, write, andspeak in fluent English
    • Must be available towork a reasonable amount of daily and/or weekendovertime
    • Must be physically and mentallycapable of performing all responsibilities and essential elementsof the job within reasonableexpectancy
