Description
Husbandry and cleaning requirements for animals in training.

  • Managing and providing diets in context to training.
  • Providing companionship to animals and building relationships.
  • Training behaviors using operant conditioning.
  • Record keeping.
  • Creating and executing training plans.
  • Liaising with training manager in relation to animal's welfare and mental state.
  • Assisting veterinary doctors with treatment of animals.
  • Educating other staff about correct handling procedures and safe training.
  • Presenting animals onsite and offsite locations and events.
  • Accepting changes of hours and days off as requested by Zoo Manager to attend events.
  • Organizing food and training equipment with store supervisor.
  • Providing enrichment to training animals.
  • Assisting with training of animals outside of your quota as required.
  • Research to inspire shows and presentations to be the best performance possible.

Directives:_

  • Work in cooperation with other trainers and staff members to optimize training times for all animals.
  • Be polite and courteous to other members of staff and park guests.
  • Never to abuse or punish an animal in any way has that been unnecessary where training can be applied.

Job Types:
