    The British Embassy Dubai has a vacancy for an Electrician and Senior Maintenance Technician, job grade AA on a fixed-term contract for two (2) years.

    The jobholder will be work to the Facilities and Maintenance Officer, they will be a Senior Technician in our Technical Works Group. The role includes carrying out and specialising in electrical preventive and reactive maintenance to agreed FCDO standards and signing off new electrical installations. You will also be expected to carry out other general maintenance tasks around the Estate.

    Duties and responsibilities:

  • Be part of the small Technical Works Group responsible for completing works requests
  • Undertake the day-to-day maintenance and repair of building services installations, including lighting, power, replacement of lamps and fluorescent tubes, emergency lighting systems, energy conservation, heating controls, hot water systems and renewable systems.
  • Be responsible for the installation and testing of new electrical works
  • Undertake as directed the planned preventative maintenance programme (PPM) related to Electrical Inspections, Electrical Testing, Emergency Lighting and Electrical Services in a wide variety of buildings and ensure compliance with all relevant guidelines, statutory acts and regulations.
  • Responsible for the safe use of a range of portable tools, small plant, ladders and equipment to enable duties of the role to be undertaken.
  • Identify opportunities that will improve energy efficiency by identifying inefficient components or practices, contributing to environmental sustainability and potential cost savings.
  • Delivery of Out of Hours call out service in accordance with organisation policies and procedures.
  • Aware of and follow the relevant Health and Safety (H&S) guidance when undertaking the works.
  • Escort contractors whilst visiting site.
  • Support the wider Technical Works Group with maintenance activities as directed.
  • The above list is not exhaustive, and the jobholder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required.

  • Essential qualifications, skills and experience 1
  • City & Guilds Electrical Testing and Installation certification
  • At least 8 years of electrical maintenance including but not limited to, work on residential and office electrical systems and assets, work on chiller and generator systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of British Electrical standards and experience working to them
  • IT literate and well versed in Microsoft office primarily using Outlook and MS Teams.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including ability to organise and prioritise workloads, organise records, meet deadlines and maintain close attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Fluent in verbal English.

    Working hours and remuneration:

    The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, which includes 25 days of leave per annum (calculated pro-rata)

    Salary is at AED 9,769 per month.

    There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

    The Embassy is open from Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 18:00. Conditioned working hours are 35 hours per week and specific working hours for this role will be confirmed at a later time.

    The successful candidate will be required to transfer their visa under the Embassy's sponsorship.
