- Hemato-oncologists are responsible for diagnosing various blood disorders and cancers through physical examinations, laboratory tests, and imaging studies.
- They develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients based on their specific condition, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, bone marrow transplants, immunotherapy, and other therapeutic interventions.
- Continuously monitor the progress of their patients throughout their treatment and make adjustments to the treatment plan as necessary.
- Provide palliative care to improve the quality of life for patients with advanced cancer, focusing on pain and symptom management and emotional support.
- Manage and alleviate the symptoms and side effects of cancer and blood disorders, such as pain, anemia, bleeding, and fatigue.
- Publish research findings in medical journals to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in hematology and oncology.
- Educate medical students and fellow physician on hematology and oncology principles, diagnosis, and treatment methods.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in hematology and oncology through conferences, workshops, and self-directed learning.
- Collaborate with other medical specialists, such as surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and nurses, to provide comprehensive care to cancer and blood disorder patients.
- Offer consultations to other healthcare providers seeking guidance on complex cases.
- Advocate for patients and help them make informed decisions about their treatment options.
- Offer emotional support to patients and their families, especially in difficult situations.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care.
- Manage administrative tasks related to patient care, and Coordinate such as billing, insurance claims, and scheduling with Front office team.
- Adhere to medical ethics, legal and DOH / JCIA compliance and regulations governing patient care and confidentiality.
- Other assignments as advised by Head of the department.
- Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements
- Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
- Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports
- Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
- Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
- Graduation from an approved school of medicine, plus one year of internship.
- Culminating in procuring a Post-Graduate Master's degree and/or equivalent Fellowships approved by HAAD.
- Current licensure in country of origin and with DOH license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
- At least two years' practice in the field of Oncology.
- Excellent oral and written English. Knowledge of the Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
