WELDER


As a Welder you will be responsible to perform Mig and Gas welding duties within approved industry standards as required meeting customer and branch needs.

You will also be required to act as a technician should the need arise assembling hose and fittings as per customer or branch requirements.


As a Welder you are responsible for:

  • Carry out welding according to the type of welding and specifications described
  • Perform all welding tasks in accordance with accepted company and industry procedures and standards.
  • Verify the drawings (schematic, assembly & lay out, BOMs etc) to identify the scope of job and plan the schedule accordingly
  • Ensure that all products are serviceable before use and that all items for sale are assembled correctly in accordance with industry standards.
  • Assemble hose and fittings as per customer or branch requirements
  • Ensure that all products are serviceable (e.g. pressure test hoses) before use and that all items for sale are assembled in accordance with accepted procedures
  • Ensure paperwork is correctly completed, signed and filed
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels, be familiar and thorough with the full range of Gates products.
  • Ensure best and safe work practices of the quality management system are followed at all times
  • Maintain the workshop, plant equipment and accessories in good order & maintenance of housekeeping at all job locations.
  • Ensure workshop is kept in a clean and safe condition, and all products are kept in their appropriate place
  • Recording of measurements and stock usage as the jobs are carried out
  • Ensure all transactions are carried out in compliance with the applicable standards, Company Quality (ISO) procedures and provide advice to the QHSE Department of any nonconformance issues
  • Comply with all occupational health, safety and environmental procedures of both the company and of client while working
  • In addition, shall also support the activities of the other units whenever requested
  • Other duties associated with successful development of the unit.

Required Experience:

  • Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, manuals and documents.
  • Knowledge on fitting sizes viz JIC, BSP, NPT etc.
  • Basic knowledge about welding procedure and welding techniques
  • Knowledge on welding defects
  • Ability to choose correct hose, fitting and belt options based on information given by customer
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Preferred to have Vocational or Technical Qualification
  • Mig, Tig and gas welding certificate. Any additional required welding certificate specific to job
  • Should have Zero to Two years of experience in welding.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in Quality, Health, Safety and the Environment (QHSE).

Required Skills:


  • Ability to plan, schedule and prioritize the activities.
  • Ability to resolve common problems.
  • Able to use hand/power tools and measuring equipment safely and correctly.
  • Ability to perform simple calculations and use crimp charts.
  • Good communication skills, able to converse with supervisors.
  • Professionalism and ability to exercise discretion with confidential information at all times is required.
  • Awareness of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards, policies and procedures.
  • Good numerical, interpersonal and organizational skills.
