Job Role: Commercial Director - LuxuryDevelopments

Key responsibilities and dutiesare listed, but not limited to, the below:

  • Oversee commercial management for the project, againstagreed targets for profit and ROCE for the project
  • Supervise and monitor all aspects of the contractincluding: compliance, terms and conditions, service levelagreements, managing receipts, documentation of change requests,delivery of deliverables, payment procedures and managementreporting
  • Financial reporting and monitoringof overall project financial performance
  • Overseeing the working capital position on the project,and supporting project management teams when direct senior contactwith clients is required to resolve working capitalissues
  • Monitoring and advising on compliancewith internal governance and contractual commercialobligations
  • Ensuring IMS compliant records arekept of all project variations which have fee and/or programmeimplications
  • Working with Project Managers toadvise and recommend more cost-effective methods of delivery whereappropriate
  • Assisting in the development ofproject financial recovery strategy; attendance at monthly creditcontrol meetings and dealing with actions arising
  • Promote all aspects of Mott MacDonald’sinternal governance protocols related to commercialsuccess.
  • Develop, review and update a changemanagement system and procedures that capture complete, accurateand consistent baseline documents, and ensure changes in design andconstruction and any other change are controlled in accordance withthe contract documents and/or programme controlsprocedures
  • Oversee the change process toensure consistency across all existing contracts and the projectsfor design details and other related items
  • Monitor changes across the project against the contractand scope baseline; create and implement a change management plan,change log and governance processes
  • Producingmonthly reports including earned value report

  • IT and standard industry software skills, includinghands-on knowledge of BIM and other digital platforms

  • Able to manage multiple teamswith diverse backgrounds on geographically and culturally diverseteams

  • Sound knowledge of professional and internationalstandards


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying orCommercial Management/Cost Engineering from a recognizeduniversity
  • Membership to a relevantprofessional institution (for example MRICS) ismandatory
  • Minimum 20 years’experience of which at least 10 years’ experience shouldbe within commercial and contract management
  • Comprehensive background in various types of conditionsof contract
  • Prior experience of working onlarge-scale, luxury mixed-use developments would be highlyadvantageous
