Advertising account executives (or simply accountexecutives) are the main liaison between advertising and mediaagencies and their clients. The role is a combination of sales orbusiness development activities and customer relationshipmanagement. Account executives meet with clients to get a thoroughunderstanding of their advertising and promotional needs, thebudgets earmarked for these activities, target audience and othercritical demographics, market and competition information and anyother relevant details. They then manage and coordinate advertisingand promotional campaigns post client approval, track budgets andcosts, and ensure that the projects run smoothly. Executives stayin touch with the past clients and solicit new business bypresenting proposals or pitches in collaboration with other membersof the agency.
