Job Summary


Subject Matter Expert (SME) will operate as part of a diverse Team of highly trained professionals located in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

This position requires experience defining civil defense planning assumptions and developing capabilities development plans to achieve the organizations target mandate and missions.

SME must have experience defining core mission areas, defining core competencies. The SME must be a Maritime Operations Subject Matter Expert.

This position requires experience building realistic training. The Search Rescue SME must have experience planning and conducting training seminars. This position requires deep understanding of conducting training events at the tactical and operational levels.


Essential Functions

  • Establish and maintain relationships with UAE Search and Rescue stakeholders and other agencies.
  • Review requirements for the analysis of Search and Rescue policy, doctrine, and training methodologies
  • Plan and lead training seminars
  • Support the development of After Action Reviews following every training event to bring out learning points and help build unit cohesion
  • Identify and document lessons learned
  • Exhibit culturally appropriate interpersonal and negotiation skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Search and Rescue operational and planning and training experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with mínimal oversight in a variety of roles
  • Demonstrated management and planning skills
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge training with Middle East Coalition partners
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite Skills (emphasis in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint)
  • Previous work experience in the Middle East is preferred
  • Possess a valid Passport (with more than 6 months to expiration)

Education and/or Experience

  • Master's Degree in a Search and Rescue or Maritime Safety related field
  • Minimum 5 years' experience at the INternational, State or National Level in planning, directing and coordinating multiagency crisis response actions or education and training programs
  • Ability to prepare and conduct executive level briefings
  • Served as a traine in Search and Rescue within the past five years
