Description

The purpose of this document is to describe the position of Environment Expert (Energy Efficiency & Modelling) in the Keolis-MHI organization.

The missions and activities described below are not exhaustive and may evolve to better suit the needs of Keolis-MHI.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor energy related design issues, such as energy engineering, energy management, or sustainable design.
  • Advise Keolis-MHI and RTA on topics such as climate control systems, energy modelling, data logging, sustainable design, or energy auditing.
  • Collect data for energy conservation analyses, using jobsite observation, field inspections, or submetering.
  • Conduct energy audits to evaluate energy use and to identify conservation and cost reduction measures.
  • Consult with the operations and maintenance team, construction or renovation contractors or other engineers on topics such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) or Green Buildings.
  • Direct the implementation of energy management projects.
  • Identify and recommend energy savings strategies to achieve more energy efficient operation.
  • Monitor and analyse energy consumption.
  • Perform energy modelling, measurement, verification, commissioning, or retro commissioning.
  • Prepare energyrelated reports or related documentation.
  • Train personnel or relevant stakeholders on topics such as energy management.
  • Verify energy bills and meter readings.
  • Manage the development, design, or construction of energy conservation projects to ensure acceptability of budgets and timelines, conformance to federal and local laws, or adherence to approved specifications.
  • Promote awareness or use of alternative or renewable energy sources.
  • Recommend best fuel for specific sites or circumstances.
  • Research renewable or alternative energy systems or technologies, such as solar thermal or photovoltaic energy.
  • Review architectural, mechanical, or electrical plans or specifications to evaluate energy efficiency.
  • Analyse, interpret, or create graphical representations of energy data, using engineering software.
  • Inspect or monitor energy systems, including heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) or daylighting systems to determine energy use or potential energy savings.
  • Review or negotiate energy purchase agreements.
  • Write or install energy management routines for building automation systems.
  • Broad understanding of the KM values & 4P's (Passengers, People, PTA & Planet)
  • Understanding of KM committed obligation relevant to your section & QHSE
  • Awareness of QHSE KPI's relevant to your section & the role you play in efficiently delivering them
  • Broad understanding of the financial penalties aligned to KPI's (where relevant)
  • Full understanding of the departmental plan for your QHSE section
  • Actively supports and collaborate with others in QHSE, KM & contractors to deliver KM requirements

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Working knowledge and understanding of ISO 50001, 1400
  • Broad understanding of implementing environmental & sustainability strategies
  • Software skills for preparation of relevant reports and presentations
  • Innovator to develop new ideas to enhance environmental initiatives.
  • Undertakes & documents (as evidence), continual professional development (CPD) as part of the Performance & Development plan set by their line manager. This will be supported by KM where possible but should also include selfdevelopment activities

KEY SKILLS

  • Familiarity with methods of data acquisition, instrumentation, and controls.
  • Familiar with rail and/or transport operational networks
  • Strong analytical skills using Excel spreadsheets or other data analysis tools.
  • Strong written, verbal & literacy communication skills.
  • Individuals who are selfmotivated and able to work independently without supervision
  • Excellent computer literacy

EXPERIENCES

  • Demonstrated knowledge in energy efficiency and energy modelling technology, and regulatory concepts and requirements.
  • Minimum 3 years of Energy Efficiency and Energy Modelling experience in projects and/or operations.
  • LEED Accredited Professional (or ability to progress to) with LEED Management Experience.
  • Experience or involvement with USGBC / GBCI.  Experience working in an empowered organization.
  • Experience in interpreting local and global regulatory requirements.
  • Be able to prioritize and manage tasks.
  • Software skills for preparation of relevant reports and presentations

EDUCATIONNAL QUALIFCATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or science, with a focus on electrical, mechanical, environmental, or chemical engineering
