    Implement the plant Radiation Protection (RP)activities during operational readiness, start-up and normaloperation of Barakah Nuclear Power Plants (BNPP), as per regulatoryrequirements, operating policies and principles, nuclear standardsfor nuclear safety, industrial safety, and environmentalprotection, to ensure overall business performance objectives areachieved.

    PlantRadiation Protection Activities

    Responsibilities andAccountabilities:

    • Execute the process to manageand control Radioactive Contamination as well as Radiation Exposureto allow for safe operation of theplant.
    • Provide input to the governancemanagement of Radiation Protection area to drive performanceimprovement.
    • Designate and operate temporaryRadiologically Controlled Area (RCA) as needed to align with RPrequirements.
    • Monitor the operation ofprotection clothes washer and dryer in the RCA to ensure safeconditions.
    • Monitor the decontamination ofcontaminated area and equipment to maintain cleanfacilities.
    • Conduct periodic surveillance testsas well as radiation shield performance tests to ensure alignmentwith standards.
    • Monitor the high radiationarea, very high radiation area, contamination area, and airbornecontamination area to minimize exposure dose for radiationworkers.
    • Monitor the transportation ofradioactive materials to and from the RCA to minimize exposure dosefor all workers.
    • Provide radiation protectionconsumables and equipment, including the storage of portableradiation equipment to minimize exposure dose for radiationworkers.
    Execute and support activities in thefield to ensure Plant Radiation Protection Activities are carriedout effectively and successfully; activitiesinclude:
    ­ Commissioning testing of RPequipment and systems.
    ­ RadiationSafety monitoring including Radiologically Controlled Area (RCA)operation from Fuel on Siteactivities.
    ­ Walk-down of RP systemsand areas.
    ­ Documentation of RPactivities.
    ­ Actions for DeficiencyNotification Report (DNRs) and Request for Information (RFIs)regarding RP issues.

    • Provide training feedback onprogram effectiveness with evaluation of operator performance toalign with requirements.
