    Position Summary

    The W.E.B. Du Bois – Harvey Honors College at Jackson State University is seeking an Education Technologist/Specialist to work at NASA Johnson Space Flight Center in Houston, TX. This position will support NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars INCAS). This position requires the ability to obtain a public trust clearance.

    NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) is a STEM engagement activity for community
    college students seeking to transfer to a 4-year institution or go directly to the labor force. NCAS uses NASA's unique expertise, research, facilities, and other resources in aerospace to engage students inauthentic and experiential learning opportunities. Three consecutive mission experiences are offered alongside an opportunity to apply for a paid internship. NCAS also partners with Minority Serving Institutions enabling them to engage students in similar experiences that are scaled to the institutions'

  • Proficiency in classroom teaching in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) discipline(s).
  • Proficiency in use of application and registration systems.
  • Proficiency in administration of distance learning methods.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite particularly Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Forms, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to learn new educational tools and platforms.
  • Ability to attend to student experiences and intended benefits.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to support program goals (meet deadlines, follow guidance, adhere to a plan, complete tasks, etc.).

  • Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver STEM engagement experiences using proven and trending instructional and professional development strategies, and current NASA messaging and content information.
  • Work alongside Education Specialists to maintain a learning management system for various online courses.
  • Train stakeholders in and moderate the use of online tools and platforms critical to the successful engagement of community college students in NCAS.
  • Research online tools and platforms to increase participant satisfaction and success across NCAS Missions.
  • Support and/or participate in STEM ecosystems events, meetings, and activities that serve community college students.
  • Review and revise the Syllabi, Training Plans, and Course Modules for pedagogical fidelity, presence of core elements, mission alignment, and learning management system integration.
  • Use innovations and technologies that broaden student participation, improve student experiences, and advance student skillsets and/or increase student marketability in STEM fields.
  • Travel to planned in-person events to support NCAS Missions, Conferences, and STEM
  • Engagement events at NASA Field Centers & Partner Institutes.
  • Contribute to iterative lessons learned and continuous project improvement.
  • Support the development of conference proposals.
