- Orthopedic surgeons are the finalport of call for bone-related injuries/issues such as tornligaments, ruptured discs, osteoporosis, sciatica, and bone tumorto mention but a few.
- Studying the medicalhistory of patients to identify the pattern to adisorder.
- They may refer patients to otherhealthcare professionals such as physiologists and psychiatrics foradditional medical care.
- Responsible to providemedical care by performing physical exams, designing treatment andtherapeutic plans.
- Keep tracking ofpatient's progress to determine what needs to bedone.
- Often in-charge of the entire orthopedicdepartment including the physician's assistants, nursesand surgery technicians.
- Carry out research todevelop and improve on existing operating procedures and surgicaltechnique
- Update families on the progress oftreatment as well as steps necessary for recovery and create careplans for patients returning fromsurgery.
