    Title:Speech-LanguagePathologist

    PositionSummary:

    The Speech andLanguage Pathologist (SLP) will work with school students inscreening, evaluating, diagnosing, and treating disorders ofcommunication. These disorders of speech and language may includeissues with articulation, fluency, voice, verbal and writtenlanguage, auditory comprehension, and cognition communication. Thisposition will develop and execute specific components of a speechand language program as specified in an Individualized EducationalProgram (IEP). This position will attend all IEP meetings ofassigned students and will make periodic reports on the progress ofstudents.

    Essential Functions:
    Coordinateand/or participate in multi-disciplinary assessments of students;collaborates with other team members in the development ofmulti-disciplinary reports
    Address speech production,vocal production, and language needs of students through speechtherapy
    Work in partnership with teachers to integratelanguage and communication skills into regular educationalactivities
    Document and collect data on all consultationsessions using the specified district platform and provide regularassessments including documentation progress
    Maintainclient files and treatment logs in an organized manner to includeas well as provide appropriate documentation to interdisciplinaryteam
    Conduct student screenings and/or assessments oflanguage, voice, fluency, articulation, or hearing
    Develop speech and language goals and objectives and deliver speechand language services as determined by an IEP
    Developand implement high quality, legally compliant IEPs
    Maintain compliance in assuring educational activities and servicesfor identified students comply with established standards,requirements, laws, codes, regulations, policies andprocedures
    Attend and participate in meetings asrequired (team, staff, and IEP meetings)
    Developinstructional materials and evaluate commercially availablematerial for treatment
    Keep current on the latestdevelopments and research in the field of speech therapy includingassessment, treatment, and delivery of services includingteletherapy
    Serve as a resource person to teachers andother service providers
    Manage time efficiently, followschedule and inform appropriate personnel of departures fromschedule
    Administrative duties, responsibilities, andactivities may be assigned or changed from time to time

    Minimum PhysicalRequirements:
    MentalDemands: high workflow management, high projectcoordination, high people engagement
    FingerDexterity: using primarily just the fingers to make smallmovements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinchingfingers together
    Talking: especiallywhere one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideasaccurately, loudly, or quickly
    AverageHearing: able to hear average or normal conversations andreceive ordinary information
    Average VisualAbilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare orinspect documents or operate machinery
    PhysicalStrength: sedentary work. Sitting most of the time, andoccasionally exerts up to 10 lbs. of force (almost all officejobs)
    Frequent multi-tasking, changing of taskpriorities, repetitious exacting work required
    Workingin a noisy, distracting environment with frequent deadlinepressures TRAVEL : Ability to travel in performance of job dutiesis required

    MinimumQualification, Job Experience, Knowledge, Skills andAbilities:

    • ValidState License as a Speech-Language Pathologist;
    • Skilled in MS Office(Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Outlook)
    • Knowledge ofLanguage, Speech, and Hearing Assessments including procedures,techniques, and instrumentation, both formal and informal, used toassess the speech and language status of children and theimplications of speech/language disorders in a school oreducationalsetting
    • Ability to work withstudents who display speech and language and communicationdeficits, students with specialneeds
    • Ability to workcollaboratively with professionals from many otherdisciplines
    • Strong organizationaland planningskills
    • Verbal and writtencommunicationskills

    CertificationRequired:

    • ValidStateLicense as a Speech-LanguagePathologist
