Where does this role fit into the bigger picture

The Lead of the Dubai Centre of Artificial Intelligence reports directly to the Executive Director of Future Design and Acceleration.

The Dubai Centre of AI's main objective is to drive the development and adoption of AI technologies. This includes promoting AI research, fostering innovation in AI applications, and supporting the integration of AI into various sectors such as healthcare, education, transportation, and government services.

Lead of the Dubai Centre of AI

As the Lead of the Dubai Centre of AI, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of artificial intelligence in Dubai by collaborating with industry leaders, academia, and local and international government entities. You will be a seasoned professional with a proven track record in driving AI initiatives, fostering innovation, and managing multidisciplinary teams.

Your Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• You will develop and execute the strategic vision for the Centre by aligning with the organization's overall goals and Dubai's AI strategy.
• You will lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of AI initiatives to drive innovation and technological advancement.
  
  

Collaboration and Partnerships

• You will establish and maintain strong collaborations with government agencies, industry partners, and academic institutions to foster a collaborative AI ecosystem.
• You will identify and pursue partnership opportunities that enhance the Centre's capabilities and impact.
• You will actively engage with local and international AI centers, research institutions, and industry associations to form strategic alliances and share best practices.
  
  

Research and Development

• You will oversee and guide AI research projects, ensuring alignment with industry needs and global standards.
• You will stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI technologies and integrate relevant innovations into the Centre's programs.
  
  

Team Management

• You will recruit, mentor, and lead a diverse team of AI professionals, researchers, and support staff to enable the Centre to deliver on its mission and vision.
• You will foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence within the team.
  
  

Resource Management

• You will manage the budget, resources, and facilities effectively to ensure the successful operation of the Centre of AI.
• You will optimize resource allocation to maximize the impact of AI initiatives across Dubai.
  
  

Community Engagement

• You will represent the Centre at industry conferences, events, and forums to promote its activities and achievements.
• You will engage with the local and international AI community to enhance the Centre's visibility and influence.
• You will deliver AI courses, workshops, and training programs to students, professionals, and the community, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
  
  

Partnership Development

• You will cultivate and strengthen partnerships with local and international AI centers, fostering collaborative research projects, joint initiatives, and knowledge exchange.
• You will collaborate with educational institutions to develop and implement AI curriculum and educational programs for students and experienced professionals.
  
  

Third Party Relationships

• You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with any 3rd party suppliers.

Skills

• As the Lead of the Dubai Centre for AI, you will hold an advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• You will have a minimum of 8 years' experience in a leadership role, with a strong background in AI research and development.
• You will demonstrate success in building and leading high-performance teams.
• You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at various levels.
• You will have in-depth knowledge of the AI landscape, emerging technologies, and industry trends.
• You will need previous experience in establishing and managing collaborative partnerships is highly desirable.
