    Description

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure that children are safe andthat their everyday needs are met – this may includediapering, dressing, grooming, andfeeding.
    • Engage in positive interaction withchildren to build confidence andself-esteem.
    • Ensure children are kept active,entertained, and engaged in developmentalactivities.
    • Effectively discipline children whoare misbehaving.
    • Plan and oversee dailyschedules.
    • Model and encourage good socialskills, e.g. strong communication and conflict-resolutionskills.
    • Monitor and report developmental orsafety concerns.

    Requirements

    • High school diploma orequivalent.
    • A qualification in childcare, childdevelopment, or childhood education may berequired.
    • Knowledge of the stages of childhooddevelopment.
    • Good communication skills toreport on child's individualneeds/performance/development to superiors orparents.
    • Physical energy to run around afterchildren all day.
    • First aid training isstrongly preferred.
    • Driver'slicense.
    • Clean criminal record/backgroundcheck.
    • Goodreferences.
