- Set-up and operates machines inaccordance with knowledge and manufacturers' operatinginstructions in order to accomplish required job laid down in aWork Order, utilising the materials which accompany the WorkOrder.
- Visually check cutting tools andmaterials to commencing the work, replacing the tools from storesand reporting any defect in the materials to the WorkshopSupervisor where appropriate.
- Operate themachine safely and competently in accordance with operatinginstructions, and ensuring that good safety and housekeepingstandards are maintained as laid down QHSE policies andprocedures.
- Coordinate with QC Inspector aftercompletion of the works.
- Ensure that aneffective hand-over is carried out at the beginning/ end of eachshift, assuring that any specific work or safety relatedinformation is communicated.
- Read andinterprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications,or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerance of finishedwork pieces, sequences of operations and setuprequirements.
- Starts and observes machineoperation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, andadjust machine controls as required.
- Select,align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments,accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes,vertical borers, grinders, andshapers.
- Performs other related field,maintenance or shop duties as assigned bysupervisor.
- Responsible for the generalhousekeeping and cleaning of area ofworking.
- All other duties asassigned.
