Description

• Oversee the provision of legalcounsel to safeguard the Company's interest, ensurecompliance with all applicable local and / or global laws, rulesand regulations, and minimise liability and riskexposure.
• Provide strategic advice to thecompany Leadership on legal implications of new and criticalprojects as well as deals and investments to protect the corporateinterests and minimise liabilities.
• Reviewemployee engagement results and develop action plans to establish amotivated and engaged workforce.
• Oversee theLegal and Governance function performance by managing performanceof direct and indirect reports, defining workforce requirements,recruiting, training and developing talent, in conjunction with theHuman Capital function, to ensure competent, qualified and highlymotivated staff enable the achievement of the function'sobjectives.
• Manage the development and / orreview of a wide range of complex agreements, contracts and otherrelevant documentation to ensure the protection of theCompany's interests at large, and alignment with businessobjectives and requirements.
• Manage thedevelopment and updating of standard terms of business and standardform precedents to ensure consistent use across theorganisation.
• Lead the resolution of alllitigation or court proceedings where necessary, through theLitigation & Regulatory Affairs function and external legalcounsel when required, to defend the Company against any claim orlegal action taken against it.
• Overlook theselection of vendors and service providers, at a local and globallevel, to ensure compliance with internal standards and processes,and provision of high quality and reliable legalservices.
• Manage vendors and service providersto ensure all services are procured in a timely and cost effectivemanner, in line with Legal and Governance function objectives andbudget.
