- Welding supervisors have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
- Monitoring the quality of welding work to ensure that it meets industry standards
- Developing and implementing safety policies, procedures, and practices for the workplace
- Reporting to management about the status of projects, including delays that may occur due to equipment problems or other issues
- Training new welders in proper welding techniques and safety procedures
- Reviewing blueprints and other plans to determine how welders will be able to implement them
- Providing technical assistance to other welders when needed
- Ensuring that proper safety precautions are taken while welding is being performed
- Training welders on new equipment and technologies as they become available
- Maintaining records of welding activity, including materials used and welders' qualifications.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years welding experience in a production environment.
- 2+ years supervisory experience in a production environment.
- Working knowledge of welding safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
