Follows organizational direction and meets established expectations when performing required operational duties. Drives the American Hospital Dubai's ambulance safely and professionally. Assists the Paramedic in lifting the patient into and out of the Ambulance. Maintains the Ambulance's inventory and conducts daily ambulance mechanical checks.

Responsibilities

• Answers phone calls politely and professionally using proper telephone etiquette.
• Adheres to the hospital policy HPP-206 "Identification of Patient".
• Ensures that the place of work and surrounding area is kept clean and organized at all times.
• Operates the Ambulance safely and professionally and requires regulations as per Police Department Policies, Road Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS).
• Lifts and carries an adult safely via the stretcher with assistance.
• Ensures the Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS) office is fully stocked and cleaned at all times.
• Directs and supports Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS) and other ambulance service providers arriving at American Hospital Dubai's Ambulance receiving area.
• Assists Emergency patients arriving outside the Emergency Department entrance.
• Ensures a safe working environment through strict compliance with Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS) standards.
• Completes daily Mechanical checks and ensures that vehicles are scheduled for servicing as per manufacturer schedule.
• Remains calm under difficult circumstances and works with frequent interruptions
• Assists Emergency Department team as needed.
• Performs additional duties as required.
• Performs on-call duties and gets called out after hours.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate
• Licensed as an Ambulance Driver with the Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Service (DCAS)
• Valid UAE Driving License (HGV) Heavy Goods Vehicle
• Heart Saver First Aid with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Automated External Defibrillator (AED)/Basic Life Support (BLS)

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Licensed Ambulance Driver with Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Service (DCAS)
• Previous experience in a Pre-Hospital/Hospital environment preferred
• Excellent English verbal/written communication skills, good level of spoken Arabic preferred
• Knowledge of Medical terminologies
• Skills in basic computer programs
• Skills in communication, interpersonal, and organizational
• Skills in Critical Thinking – using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of events, solutions, conclusions or approaches
• Skills in Selective Attention – the ability to concentrate on a task over some time without being distracted
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced deadline-sensitive environment
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a variety of situations
• Strong attention to detail
