- Performs all management functionsand duties of a Surgical Gastroenterology and provides expertmedical care for ambulatory and hospitalized patients, includingpre- and post-operative cases and such surgical procedures as arewithin incumbent's competence.
- Performsprofessional duties in the OPD at which out-patients surgical careis to be rendered to patients asneeded.
- Provides consultation services tophysicians and other surgeons and other specialists if and whenrequired
- Assumes after-hours responsibilitiesfor the care of assigned surgical cases and makes daily rounds forthose hospitalized.
- Orders diagnosticlaboratory studies and X-ray examinations, determining thediagnosis and prescribing applicabletherapy.
- Determines the eligibility of patientsfor admission.
- Adheres to the By-laws and Rulesand Regulations of the Medical Department and assures that workperformed is in keeping with the established standards of the JointCommission of Accreditation ofHospitals.
- Consults with anesthesiologist onthe choice of anesthesia to beused.
- Participates in and contributes toin-service activities such as lectures, conferences androunds.
- Participates in the Quality Assuranceactivities of the Service (morbidity and mortality reviews, peerreview activities etc.).
- Participates inhospital committee functions asassigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned bythe head of the department.
