Qualification and Experience Required:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum qualifications: Bachelor of Science
  • Project Background: Power Projects (Solar/Sub-Stations/Solar/Thermal Power Plants/Diesel Engines/Batteries Storage Systems/Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Plants/Sewage Treatment Plants (STP))
Key Responsibilities and Tasks


Development:

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of all electrical system (LV, MV, HV) designs to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and project specifications.
  • Ensure that engineering tasks are carried out in compliance with the Project, Employer's, E&S and contract requirements with the aim to reduce all HSE risks to as low as reasonably practical during the design phase
  • Manage and streamline the review and approval process between the EPC Contractor, the Owner's Engineer, the offtaker and the Project Company
  • Oversee and manage the project engineering Design Document List (DDL) and ensure that documents are being submitted and reviewed ontime and in accordance with the project schedule
  • Ensure that engineering design documents comply with the codes, standards and technical specifications specified in the EPC Contract and UCA, Identify potential design flaws, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement, providing constructive feedback to project teams.
  • Manage the execution of all electrical studies (including required onshore geophysical studies such as soil electrical resistivity and thermal resistivity testing)
  • Maintain a project risk register to identify, assess and mitigate potential design risks
  • Prepare shareholder\offtaker monthly reports for engineering
  • Lead engineering meetings on a regular basis with AUC, the EPC Contractor and Owner's Engineer to discuss the status of design documentation, plant engineering/procurement timelines and key issues to be resolved
  • Take all important decisions related to the technical aspects of power utilities on the project, liaising with all other stakeholders, managers and engineering contractors. Troubleshoot technical aspects across all power utilities.
  • Manage disputes and claims of a technical nature
  • Support in ensuring high quality assurance/quality control for all equipment
  • Coordinate with the technical teams through all power utilities on the design, construction and installation aspects
  • Manage the EPC procurement strategy and technical subcontracting activities
  • Facilitate the cross package technical information flow and secure management of technical interfaces, Technical Queries and Management of Change.
  • Responsible to obtain all the required design certifications for the project. Ensure that certification bodies (or regulatory agencies, as applicable) validate the documents in the timeframe allowed.
  • Identify potential "conflicts" within the packages or between packages
  • Participate actively in the HSE, quality and risks aspects of the Project. Arrange and lead Design Reviews, participate in HAZID and HAZOP meetings. Implement robust quality assurance processes to verify the accuracy and completeness of design documentation.
  • Gather and formalise regular lessons learnt across the project
  • Conduct periodic site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to approved designs.
  • Provide technical support to crossfunctional teams during various project phases.
