Associate Vice President, Retail Strategy and Business Performance | Q

Organisation Unit Purpose
Retail Strategy and Business Performance is responsible for strategy development and implementation for Retail Banking & Wealth Management.

Key areas of responsibility for the team includes ensuring alignment of plans and actions across all BU/SUs with division and bank objectives, support development of strategic planning and implement required strategic initiatives for the division and units, help prioritize ongoing and planned initiatives to enable allocation of resources effectively and build market intelligence and benchmarking to identify regional and international best practices.


Job Purpose
The intended position is a senior role within the Retail Strategy and Business Performance team.

The incumbent will assist the head of the unit in advising the Group Head - Retail Strategy and Business Performance on strategic group issues and providing top level strategic direction and support to the different business and support units in Retail.


Additionally, the position will act as a thought partner on key issues of strategic relevance for senior leadership within Retail Strategy and Business Performance and assist with identifying, developing and evaluating new opportunities and options in alignment with business objectives.


Main Tasks

  • Collect relevant strategy information (business initiatives, internal data) across the division, identify and analyze growth opportunities, align with overall bank strategy and plans
  • Conduct indepth research on Retail Strategy and Business Performance banking trends
  • Detailed assessment of competition performance. Carry out peer benchmarking
  • Detailed assessment of Emirates NBD performance
  • Hold strategy workshops to understand key business plans and requirements
  • Develop medium and way forward strategy covering financial, people, customer and processes
  • Align objectives and strategy
    within
- and outside Retail Strategy and Business Performance, track and enable achievement

  • CEO Reviews, Retail Strategy and Business Performance LT meetings, support for other meetings
  • Analyze strengths and weaknesses for the BU/SUs, develop actions to improve performance jointly with the leadership team, track initiatives implementation
  • Carry out regular monitoring of annual plan achievements and implementation
  • Align unit wise plans with overall Retail Strategy and Business Performance plans
  • Analyze markets to identify business opportunities and generate new ideas, help define project design.
  • Support new business ventures in the startup phase jointly with business
  • Support development and implementation of selected strategic projects and assignments
  • Support with talent pool development projects. Internships.
  • Carry out economic research and competitor analyses.
  • Identify regional and international business practices
  • Network benchmarking support
  • Collate up to date economic trends, market analyses, macroeconomic data to support plan building
  • Support sourcing of market research to derive customer and market insights.
  • Cooperation with external consultants
  • Benchmark performance against the market. Track revenue pools and market shares
  • Thought leadership articles and notes, press releases
  • Investor relations support
  • Leverage industry organizations, conferences, research
  • Award submissions
  • Facilitate development of strategic plans for the bank and the Group.
  • Help in development and implementation of bank wide strategic projects.
  • Offsites and townhalls
  • Assist with coordination of centralized initiatives across the group such as recognition programs, workshops
  • Represent the division in bank wide committees

Qualifications

Description of Knowledge / Skill etc.

  • Master in Business Administration
  • Degree from topranked universities (preferred majors are finance, accounting, economics, marketing, business administration)
  • 35 years in strategy consulting in the financial services industry or 57 years in banking / strategy and business building experience (if strategy and business building experience in other sectors at least 2 years of banking experience)
  • Specific experience in Retail Banking & Wealth Management. Prior experience in UAE a plus
  • Strong business judgment and superior problem solving abilities, particularly in strategic business and financial analysis
  • Strong numerate, data analysis and data interpretation skills. Excellent verbal and oral communication skills
  • Arabic is an added advantage
  • Ability to think strategically for the organization
  • Ability to manage and lead projects independently
  • Strong interpersonal and team working skills and an ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Able to build relationships and network effectively and gain broad respect throughout the organization
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
