J&C Joel Ltd has been trading successfully for over 40 years - with a HQ in the UK and regional bases in Dubai and Hanoi employing over 100 people around the globe.

The company provides a wide range of products and services for the entertainment and events industry. These include; motorised rigging, stage engineering, flame retardant fabrics and technical drapery.

Over the last 15 years J&C Joel has expanded and improved its Project department, which is responsible for the installation of drapery and mechanics into venues around the world.

The Role
The role will comprise of the following;

Extensive experience working with Revit & AutoCAD (7+ years)
Strong experience with SolidWorks (3+ years) or similar 3D packages
Produce detailed GA and Shop Drawings to facilitate the installation of standard and bespoke stage machinery, within performing art spaces.
Understanding of construction drawing practices & standard, and experience within the construction industry is desirable.
Work closely with engineers, architects, and other professionals to understand design requirements, clarify technical details and ensure the feasibility of designs.
Overall coordination of design information from the J&C Joel team to the client, with appropriate followup to ensure approvals are obtained according to program.
Ability to design parts and generate manufacture drawings for the following processes; sheet metal manufacture, fabricating, laser cutting, welding, machining, milling, turning.
Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including bills of materials, assembly instructions, and engineering specifications.
Experience of online portals (A-Site, BIM360, Aconnex, etc) to manage technical submissions and approvals is a plus.
Contribute to the product development process by identifying opportunities for design improvements, cost reductions, or performance enhancements.
Perform quality checks on design drawings and documents to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to standards.
Consistently designing with safety in mind for both the end user and our installation team, within the context of industry BS standards and best practices.
The primary focus of this role is mechanical, however a knowledge of electrical systems and control automation would be an advantage.
Experience working with project managers and installation teams to deal with engineering matter arising on site.

The Person

A diploma or bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
Keen attention to detail, with precision and accuracy in engineering drawings.
Problem solving ability to resolve design issues and propose solutions.
5+ years of experience working within the construction industry.
Ability to represent J&C Joel professionally in meetings with customers for design reviews.
A strong team mentality, able to take ownership of your own tasks and workload.
Capability to work with colleagues who are remote and in different time zones.
Ability to contribute to ongoing improvements within the department and the company.
