- Performs the professional dutiesof an ophthalmologist.
- Performs complete eyeexamination, assessment, determines and/or implements the course oftreatment.
- Discusses with the patient and/orhis family the eye findings, management, expected result oftreatment and possible complications.
- Followspatients through their illness at appropriately spacedintervals.
- Receives the results of lab andX-ray tests, ensures that patient is notified of the results andappropriate treatment and follow up isinitiated.
- Documents and records the eyefindings, treatment and the discussions with the patient and/orfamily in the inpatient and/or outpatient medicalrecords.
- Completes patient and other medicalrecords promptly and accurately, indicating diagnosis, treatment,course of action.
- Maintains strictconfidentiality of patients' medicalrecords.
- Performs elective and emergencysurgery as expected within the scope of the generalophthalmologist.
