Description

The dietitian will:

  • Be responsible for the organization, provision and evaluation of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service to patients in Americare.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a plan of care, based on assessment of the patients' nutritional needs.
  • Provide followup nutritional assessments, up to date care plans and patient review as required.
  • Liaise with the medical / nursing teams, allied health professionals and other members of the team in planning the nutritional care of patients.
  • Advise and liaise closely with the family/carers in the practical aspects of the agreed plan.
  • Communicate pertinent nutritional data through established systems and format with all those concerned.
  • Maintain appropriate statistics in line with the department policy.
  • Develop and implement protocols and individual nutritional care plans based on best practice for patients across the units.
  • Deliver care within the multidisciplinary team approach attending ward rounds, team meetings, family meeting, and clinical review meetings as necessary.
  • Review, develop and implement clinical standards and protocols in line with current DOH guidelines with specific attention to the needs of highrisk patient groups including older adults and patients with life limiting conditions.
  • Assist in the development nutrition education material in collaboration with colleagues.
  • In cooperation with the relevant management staff responsible for the delivery of catering services, liaise with catering staff regarding the provision of therapeutic diets and provide advice on appropriate meals to ensure dietary requirements are met.
  • Initiate/facilitate/participate in multidisciplinary continuous quality improvement initiatives which will enhance the nutritional standard of care to residents/ patients.

  • Should complete 4 basic requirements of Nutrition and Dietetics program:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Supervised practice program / practicum
National exam from country of origin
Accredited seminars and continuing education programs

  • Experience: At least 10 years in an acute care set up with major duties in ICUs and Inpatient wards
  • Certification and Licensure: DOH License, Completed at least yearly 14 CME points
  • Job Specific Knowledge and Skills: Familiar and experienced with HAAD policies and procedures,Experience with JCIA
