Job Summary:

Responsibilities:


Develop, implement, and maintain the company's health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in accordance with local and national regulations and industry best practices.

Conduct regular inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and environmental concerns. Recommend and implement corrective measures as needed.

Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.

Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and near misses. Analyze root causes and provide recommendations to prevent future occurrences.

Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions. Prepare reports and statistical data on HSE performance for management review.

Collaborate with management and employees to develop and implement safety initiatives, campaigns, and awareness programs.

Provide expert advice and guidance on HSE matters to management, supervisors, and employees.

Stay up-to-date with relevant HSE regulations, industry standards, and best practices. Communicate changes and updates to the organization and ensure compliance.

Participate in project planning and design reviews to identify and mitigate potential HSE risks.

Coordinate with external HSE regulatory agencies and participate in inspections, audits, and incident investigations as required.

Conduct risk assessments and hazard analysis for new processes, equipment, or modifications to existing operations.

Promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness among employees, encouraging active participation and ownership of HSE responsibilities.

Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with safety requirements.

Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and vendors to ensure their adherence to HSE policies and procedures.


Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.


Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as an HSE Officer in the steel industry or a similar heavy manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards in the steel industry.

Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent are highly desirable.

Excellent understanding of risk assessment techniques, incident investigation, and hazard identification.

Proficiency in implementing and maintaining HSE management systems and programs.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.

Ability to develop and deliver training programs on various HSE topics.

Familiarity with emergency response procedures and contingency planning.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and mitigate potential HSE risks.

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.

Proficiency in using HSE software and tools.

Understanding of environmental management practices and sustainability initiatives is a plus.
