    Description
    The Test Technician interacts with other engineering groups to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for diesel and gas engines. All work follows generally prescribed routines, with supervision being readily available.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Analyze test data and provide accurate reports. Make recommendations on any anomalies as to the reason/corrective action.
    • Develop, design, build, and validate specialized Dyne ancillary equipment to support specialized test requirements.
    • Develop and create complex CAN protocol to facilitate communication with dyne control/data acquisition, and validate performance.
    • Develop and build intricate test profiles for Dyne Control/Data Acquisition and implementation.
    • Collaborate with Application Engineering to design by drawing, measuring, cutting, and welding any specialty part, test rig, or component required.
    • Set up and build engines including assembly and disassembly.
    • Evaluate critical situations in the lab and make decisions to best resolve issues.
    • Test and diagnose mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or electronic problems with engines; recommend and develop resolutions
    • Prepare quality reports, track, and maintain answers for reports
    • Create and implement innovative ideas that will result in incremental or dramatic improvement; commitment to continual improvement
    • Manage special projects as assigned
    • Drive forklift in a safe manner, ensuring loads are stable and secure
    • Responsible for safety, tool inventory, and cleanliness of shop area
    • Maintain an organized and secure work environment
    • Support co-workers in other departments as needed
    • Inform the Manager of all noteworthy activities
    • Follow safety guidelines and department and corporate policies and procedures
    Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Thorough knowledge of the engineering and mechanics involved in the installation and operation of diesel and gasoline engines
    • Ability to test engines using test equipment and tools and diagnose engine and component failure in a variety of circumstances with incomplete information
    • Ability to operate fork lift trucks
    • Experience in electrical engineering regarding design and development of test and data acquisition equipment
    • Knowledge of fabrication, machining, welding and plumbing
    • Knowledge OSHA regulations and EPA requirements
    • Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal and be able to comprehend a variety of instructions, both oral and written
    • Ability to communicate in a professional manner
    • Ability to be tactful and diplomatic in challenging situations
    • Excellent presentation as well as oral and written communication skills
    • Strong problem solving and discernment skills for various decisions. Excellent analytical skills
    • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
    • Working knowledge of word processing and presentation applications and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet applications
    • Working knowledge of Diadem, CAD, Lab View and advanced knowledge of Inertia Dyne Control
    • Ability to travel, possibility overnight, often with last minute notice; travel internationally
    Education and Training
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred or equivalent vocational training
    • Certificate or courses in dynamometer operations
    • 3 – 5 years experience in gasoline and/or diesel engine diagnostics and repair
