    Role Purpose:

    We are currently looking for a Cost Manager to be based in the Abu Dhabi Office.

    The successful candidate will show high levels of technical capability, sound commercial knowledge and a good understanding of the key drivers of MEP work elements, cost and value.

    What This Job Involves

    • Provide cost and commercial services in the delivery of MEP work elements for pre and post-contract services for various project types
    • Deliver MEP post contract duties including managing change control and variations with contractors and preparing monthly payment certificates, variation assessment, cost reporting and contract administration, etc.
    • Attending project reviews as required and work closely with clients, design teams and contractors to optimize solutions, including collaborating with design team for cost studies, value engineering etc.
    • Assist and liaise with other members of the wider cost management team in devising the overall cost plan/estimate and BOQ
    • Flexible and have the ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
    • Manage and update project budgets, estimates throughout the design stages
    • Take suitable commercial meeting minutes,
    • Work pre contract including preparation of cost plan estimates, BOQs, MEP work element measurements, take-offs based on standard method of measurement, reviewing detailed measurements, sections of BOQs, analyzing design information and raising queries, handle tender query responses, manage the PQQ process with support and input into value engineering at each design stage,
    • Work post contract including dealing effectively with contract administration, comfortable on-site walks with project teams, prepare cash flow reports, draft monthly payment recommendations and weekly commercial dashboards, maintaining and updating change management log, managing variations and assist in closing out projects and claims / variations.
    • Process improvement – Identifying ways in which internal systems and processes can be improved and referring ideas to the appropriate line manager
    • Knowledge management – Ensuring that key information and learning generated from each commission is input into the internal database

    Desired skills and experience:

    • Degree in related subject (Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management/Engineering or equivalent)
    • MRICS would be advantageous but not essential.
    • Excellent knowledge, experience and clear understanding of MEP systems, component parts of a project and overall construction costs, and ability to read services specifications, drawings and schematics across the full range of Cost Management duties including: Cost Estimates, Bills of Quantities, Value Engineering, Tendering and Evaluation, Contract Knowledge, Variation management and Final Account close-out
    • Knowledge in use of Cost X or similar, MS Excel and other Microsoft Office software/ programs
    • Demonstrable track record in the successful delivery of pre and post contract MEP cost management services from inception to completion for various project types
    • Excellent verbal, numerical and report writing skills with strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiation, influence and collaborate with others in an integrated team environment
    • Team player with excellent leadership and problem solving skills
