    Core Purpose

    The Assistant Head of Primary will support the Head of Primary in providing professional leadership for the school that secures its success and improvement, ensuring high quality education for all its pupils and improved standards of learning and achievement by fulfilling the school mission and vision statements.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Undertake the professional duties of the Head of Primary in the event of his/her absence.
    • Performance and management of teachers and teaching assistants
    • Overview of Curriculum Monitoring & Evaluation
    • Assessment
    • Timetabling and cover arrangements
    • Reports
    • The supervision of SEN and EAL throughout the school

    Teaching and learning
    • Carry out teaching duties in accordance with the school's needs and schemes of work
    • Liaise with colleagues to deliver units of work in a collaborative manner
    • Set targets for student attainment levels
    • Demonstrate exemplary classroom practice
    • Extending one's own knowledge, understanding and skills by keeping up to date with appropriate literature and initiatives, and through in-service education
    • Contributing to the review of appropriate policies and procedures
    • Following standard, 'Whole School', agreed procedures
    • Monitoring the condition and safe use of classroom equipment and facilities in line with good Health and Safety practice
    • Working with parents to enable them to understand the teaching programme, pupil assessment and how to help their children progress
    • Contributing to the review, selection or writing of Curriculum Documents and Schemes of Work adopted by the School
    • Liaising with colleagues to ensure continuity, progression and the development of cross curricular links
    • Review the school's curriculum and to provide a curriculum appropriate to the school's needs
    • Be an active participant in the school's Performance Review process
    • Contribute to the pastoral and extra-curricular life of the School
    • A lead role in CPD provision with proposals to HoP
    • To input into the school SIP as required
    • Lead CPD sessions as appropriate and in keeping with the SIP
    • To be responsible for the provision of SEN and EAL throughout the primary school

    Standards and Quality Assurance
    • Support the aims and ethos of the school
    • Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance
    • Attend and participate in open evenings and student performances
    • Uphold the school's behaviour code and uniform regulations
    • Participate in staff training
    • Attend team and staff meetings
    • Through observation and appraisal assist staff in meeting professional targets
    • Providing encouragement and advice to all colleagues
    • Representing the School when required to do so

    Health and Safety
    • Emphasizes the importance of safety in all areas of the curriculum, communicating to the pupils the importance of a responsible attitude towards personal safety, the safety of others and respect for Aspen Heights British School's property and equipment
    • Perform playground duties on time and with due diligence to safeguard Aspen students
    • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
    • Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct
    • Ensure that, all the necessary health and safety rules and procedures are being followed
    • Maintain an awareness of all the health and safety measures to be taken when in school

    Minimum Educational Qualifications Required For The Role

    Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline

    Teacher certification

    Minimum Years Of Experience Required

    5 years' teaching experience

    Experience as an overseas educator in a preferably inclusive international setting

    Well versed and current in a British curriculum

    Senior Leadership Experience In An ENC Primary School

    Meet professional teacher education requirements of school

    Must hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure, or equivalent, for countries lived in outside of the UK

    Child Care and Protection training

    Language Skills
