    Job Description JobResponsibilities

    • Develop and maintain effectiveworking relationships and communications with clients, managers andother professionals to ensure seamless service delivery andcontinuity of care.
    • Maintain accurate,appropriate and confidential staff and statutory records inaccordance with department/NMC guidance on note taking and HSErequirements. Produce clear, concise factual reports withinexpected time frame.
    • Ensure vaccines are storedappropriately and use Patient Group Directions (PGDs) to deliverimmunisation/vaccination and treatment programmes in accordancewith Occupational Health Department policies and procedures andensure that all other OH nurses work to PGDs asdescribed.
    • Maintain stocks and supplies toensure availability of vaccines and clinicalequipment.
    • Risk assess and manage blood andbody fluid contamination incidents and advise on the need for postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) in accordance with Trust policy, inconjunction with the senior nurse.
    • Assess theworking environment following managerial/self-referral orpre-employment health assessment, referring to the senior nurses asnecessary.
    • Comply with the principles of riskmanagement promoting high standards, acting immediately on hazardsor unsafe practices within the department and organisation,liaising with other disciplines asnecessary.
    • Identify to the Head ofdepartment/Principal OH Practitioner circumstances where breach ofconfidentiality may be warranted to inform Trust management wherean employee or patients safety is atrisk.
    • Participate in staff induction asrequired, ensuring the services of the OHD is adequatelypublicized.
