• Care and management of all livestock and equipment. 2. Cleaning stables and yard including tack room, feed room and barn. 3. Grooming and clipping (where appropriate) horses and tidying horses for competition days. 4. Preparing stables for horses. 5. Preparing horses & tack for riders. 6. Covering, in their absence, and overseeing the responsibilities of Assistant Grooms in respect of security of the yard, care of the horses and liaison with pupils, staff and public. 7. Assist in ensuring that all fields are kept clear of droppings and poisonous plants. 8. Helping assist the vet and farrier when necessary and carrying out any prescribed treatments. 9. Booking clients for lessons and taking money for lessons. 10. Assistance with competitions and be prepared to act as travelling groom at competitions. 11. Depending on qualifications, assisting with lessons as necessary. 12. Carrying out minor repairs and improvements to equipment i.e. painting jumps etc. 13. To take the responsibility of being on call in the event of a veterinary emergency and also to be prepared to work early morning, late or extra hours on competition days. 14. Attend meetings when required. 15. To comply with the School's Health and Safety Policy and procedures. 16. Any other reasonable duties as requested.
