POSITION:
Technical Superintendent (Shipping Management)
JOB OBJECTIVE:
The Technical Superintendent spearheads the efficient and safe operation of our fleet, ensuring optimal performance while adhering to strict safety, quality, and environmental standards.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical oversight:
- Oversee the technical performance of vessels under your charge.
- Analyze and evaluate operation reports, comparing them to design values and identifying areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company safety, quality, and environmental policies.
- Manage maintenance and repair activities, including budget planning, contractor selection, and invoice review.
- Plan and conduct regular vessel inspections and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Address deficiencies identified during inspections and audits, implementing corrective and preventive actions in collaboration with relevant departments.
Planning and coordination:
- Prepare annual operating cost budgets for assigned vessels.
- Coordinate with the Fleet Personnel Manager and Marine Superintendent for crew selection, promotion, and training.
- Collaborate with the Safety and Quality Manager to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Maintain close communication with Masters, Chief Engineers, and other shipboard personnel.
- Build relationships with shipping companies, regulatory bodies, and other relevant stakeholders.
Budget and cost control:
- Track and analyze operating costs against budget, identifying and addressing any deviations.
- Negotiate and process invoices for repairs, drydockings, spares, and stores.
Additional responsibilities:
- Stay informed about current industry trends and best practices in ship management.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our technical management systems.
- Participate in internal audits and reviews as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Engineering or a related field.
- Master's degree in Maritime Engineering or related specialization is a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Technical Superintendent or equivalent role.
- Class 1 Motor Ship Engineer Certificate with at least 10 years of sea service on tankers (preferred).
- Strong understanding of shipboard systems and operations.
- Proficiency in maritime regulations and company policies.
- Experience with budget management and cost control preferred.

- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationshipbuilding skills.
Ability to Commute:
- Dubai (required)
