Description

They work closely with the healthcare team to provide respiratory care interventions, educate patients and families, and ensure the highest quality of care.

• Conduct patient assessments to determine the severity of respiratory conditions.
• Interpret clinical data, including pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gases, and chest X-rays.
• Collaborate with physicians to develop individualized treatment plans.
• Administer therapeutic treatments, such as oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and mechanical ventilation.
• Perform airway management procedures, including intubation and extubation.
• Monitor and adjust ventilator settings for critically ill patients.
• Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, treatment options, and home care.
• Provide guidance on the proper use of respiratory equipment, inhalers, and medications.
• Continuously monitor patients' respiratory status and vital signs.
• Respond to alarms and changes in patient conditions promptly.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and progress accurately.
• Be prepared to respond to respiratory emergencies and code situations.
• Assist in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as needed.
• Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment and devices.
• Ensure equipment readiness and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and sterile environment.
• Follow safety guidelines and maintain a safe workspace.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and case conferences. Requirements
• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
• State licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required.
• Strong knowledge of respiratory care principles, techniques, and equipment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed
