Position's mission

The Instructional Designer will be responsible for identifying instructional and learning design expectations to meet the requirements of the national and international standards at the ECT.

The Instructional Designer will work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SEMs) to plan an interactive student-centered environment.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Contribute to the college strategic planning phases and their implementation in the area of educational technology across the curriculum
  • Devise and articulate policies related to the uses of educational technologies as required
  • Conduct periodical needs assessment to analyze and identify the characteristics of the environment, the targeted audience, and the existing technologies and planning accordingly
  • Define the expectations of educational technology integration across the curriculum
  • Work collaboratively to plan for technology integration across the curricula and the effective use of technology in teaching and learning
  • Work with SEMs to redesign the online environment and align it with the physical one
  • Work with SMEs to develop diverse criteria to assess learner's performance and develop assessment tools that align teaching and learning strategies to assessment
  • Visualize the instructional interface, resources, activities, and storyboards on the online environment
  • Incorporate online elements into the College's courses. (Multimedia, student discussion boards, wikis, online assessments, etc.)
  • Prepare manuals/tutorials, communication materials, and any other resources that are required for the implementation of the eLearning/ blended learning activities
  • Provide training about the uses of educational technologies and their pedagogical implications and the online initiatives
  • Study the feasibility of adopting the blended learning model for specific academic programs at the college or on a wide range
  • Manage eLearning/ blended learning projects using instructional design principles and instructional design models that are appropriate for these projects
  • Align the eLearning environment with the QFE, e. learning standards, and the international standards
  • Support the transforming to the studentcentered environment and autonomous learning to meet the requirements of QFA
  • Study the emerge technologies and evaluate their potential usability in the college context
  • Prepare and archive required documents and reports for the institution selfstudy process for accreditation /reaccreditation or any other purposes that achieve the college short or long term plans
Academic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in online curriculum instructional design, educational technology, or similar fields. A Master's degree in the same field is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
  • Sound knowledge of the outcomebased curriculum.
  • Sound knowledge of the characteristics of the learning environments that support students' centrality.
  • Good knowledge of the QFE standards.
  • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System.
  • Sound knowledge and skills in teaching, learning, and assessment approach.
  • Excellent skills in written and spoken academic language (Arabic and English).
  • Innovative skills in designing the online environment.
  • Good knowledge of storyboarding software such as "Articulate" or any other software.
  • Change management skills.
Experience
3 years related experience in student services programs.
