Description
Oversee daily husbandry operations of the SeaWorld Abu Dhabi aquarium population including fish, reptiles, and invertebrates. Manage and develop the Dynamic Habitats colleagues. Oversee the care and maintenance of all guest-facing displays as well as quarantine facilities.

Responsible for area resourcing, development, communication and the operation of the animal area in the absence of the assigned Zoological Manager.


The job scope also includes:

  • Responsible for operations of animal area in absence of Manager
  • Develop top caliber teams and individuals working in Dynamic Habitats
  • Maintain and improve the high standards of animal care and welfare at SWAD facilities that meet or exceed all professional zoo/aquarium accreditation standards
  • Maintain open and continuous lines of communication with the Zoological Director, Zoological Manager, and other Zoological Department leaders
  • Develop and update as needed resourcing and plan for the Dynamic Habitats (Aquarium) area.
  • Supervises the entire SeaWorld dynamic habitats collection (fish, reptiles, and invertebrates) in line with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment global zoological goals and initiatives, including all aspects of behavior, health and husbandry, acquisition and disposition, and guest contact and interaction programs
  • Develop and maintain safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for guests, colleagues, and animals
  • Establishes and maintains a positive atmosphere which ensures the highest level of colleague performance and guest service while enforcing and complying with safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Encourage and demonstrate professional communication internally and with all departments that interact with the Zoological department
  • Supervises, trains, and coaches colleagues while ensuring proper training and development in accordance with SEA and Farah Experiences guidelines.
  • Assists in the evaluation of departmental colleagues including annual performance reviews and development plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, related to the Zoological field to include: animal sciences, other natural sciences or education
  • Must be SCUBA certified
  • At least 6 years of animal husbandry experience in a zoo, aquarium, or oceanarium
  • Superior leadership, communication and teamwork skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiar with professional zoo/aquarium and animal conservation communities
  • Able to work varying shifts based on business need

This includes:
opening, mid, and closing shifts, nights, weekends and holidays

  • Must demonstrate a positive and professional openminded attitude. Must demonstrate a history of staff development thru staff education and supportive feedback.
