POSITION TITLE:
STEWARD


Summary Description:


As a Steward you are responsible to clean food processing facilities, storage rooms, walk in fridge's, kitchen utensils, immediate corridors and holding areas as well as the operation equipment.


A)
Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Cleans kitchen walls and floors in accordance with regular cleaning schedules
  • Inspects shelving and surrounding areas and ensures these are safe and dry at all times to prevent slipping.
  • Cleans/Washes all cooking utensils per required standards.
  • Stacks washed utensils in the appropriate racks/trolleys for easier access.
  • Regularly inspects and cleans stacking areas to keep these neat and tidy.
  • Washes and polishes needed equipment and utensils in preparation for setting up.
  • Issues equipment needed for setup, per request or event order.
  • Estimates that items / equipment issued to ensure that these are of the necessary quantity.
  • Stacks all equipment issued on proper trolley or racks for easier access as well as prevention of breakage.
  • Uses chemicals and detergents only in accordance with authorized uses, to prevent damage, or risk to safety and health.
  • Complies with all safety measures while using chemicals.
  • Ensures that chinaware is stacked according to size.
  • Ensures that right glass size falls under right size.
  • Ensures glasses are in appropriate racks.
  • Ensures that dishwashing and other machines used in stewarding are kept in working condition by following appropriate procedures in the use of said machines.
  • Does minor repair and maintenance work within the section.
  • Responds to Emergency Calls in accordance with specified procedures and roles for members of the Hotel Emergency Action Team (HEAT).
  • Attends scheduled employee training and periodic reviews on departmental responsibilities in case of emergencies.
  • Immediately reports and turns over lost and found articles to Housekeeping office, following required procedures at all times.
  • Informs the Duty Manager and/or Security Department if valuables are left in the open. Follows standard procedures in handling this and similar situations at all times.
  • Attends to all guest complaints immediately and initiates/coordinates immediate resolution.
  • Performs other duties as may be required by management from time to time.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of all equipment in the area of assignment.
  • Ensures timely reporting of malfunction or maintenance deficiencies to appropriate area.
  • Attends scheduled training courses.
  • Participates actively in companyinitiated employee activities.
  • Attends briefings, as required.
  • Maintains good relationships with colleagues and contributes to team spirit.
  • Cooperates and coordinates with colleagues whenever necessary.
  • Interacts with other departments to provide additional or specialized guest services.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work surroundings.
  • Participates in activities concerning the protection of the environment.
  • Implements the identified Best Practices in the work area.

Additional duties and responsibilities:


  • Ensure integrity and confidentiality of information at all times.
  • To perform any additional requirement, tasks and duties outside of his/her scope of work as deemed necessary by your Immediate Manager or the Management.

Care of Equipment

  • Ensures maintenance and careful handling of equipment used.
  • Ensures timely reporting of malfunction or maintenance deficiency to appropriate area.

Training and Employee's Activities

  • Attends scheduled trainings.
  • Participates actively in companyinitiated employee activities.

Grooming and Hygiene

  • Adheres to the specified hygiene and personal appearance standards of the hotel and surrounding area.

Attendance

  • Adheres to the set procedures for attendance and timekeeping.

  • Adheres to the provisions outlined in the Employee's Handbook, Disciplinary Code, and Rules & Regulations.

Environmental Awareness

  • Reduces waste of supplies and materials by reusing or selling.
  • Recycles, when possible.
  • Conserves water and energy by adhering to environmental / energy conservation checklist appropriate for the surrounding area.
  • Maintains clean surroundings.
  • Participates in activities concerning the protection of the environment.
